Brand New Stand Mixer Model from Kitchen Aid!

This mixer is the KitchenAid Professional 500 Stand Mixer Bowl-Lift model with a 325-watt motor, 5-quart brushed stainless steel bowl with handle. The Kitchen Aid Pro 500 5 Quart Mixer is closest to the KitchenAid Artisan Series (they even both have the same wattage), except for that this mixer has a bowl lift instead of tilt head like the Artisan. This mixer also comes in less colors, so if you do not care about the bowl lift and tilt head is what you need, the KitchenAid Artisan Series may be a better choice due to color selection. If you need a bowl lift mixer, you are looking at the right mixer!

Q: I don't know the difference between the bowl lift v.s. the tilt head? Which one is better? I want to mix bread dough and make cookies mostly.

A: Its hard to say if one style is better than the other, it really comes down to personal preference. The KitchenAid bowl-lift mixers are generally larger and have stronger motors while the tilt head mixers are generally smaller and easier to move around and are usually less expensive. The KitchenAid bowl-lift mixers have a more rigid design making them better for bread and stiffer doughs.

Sweet Charlotte - Prior to purchasing this mixer, I had a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for 14 years. I bake and decorate many cakes, including wedding cakes and I also used it almost daily for my family. I guess I finally wore it out after all that time and decided it was time to get a new one. While I was waiting for my new one, I had to use a mixer (different brand) that I had as a back up. Going back to using anything but a Kitchen Aid was very frustrating as it was so much more difficult to use and took more time accomplishing what I was doing. I have used my new mixer several times already, and it was wonderful having an appliance that works so well and efficient. The other brand of mixer was not nearly as efficient or easy to use. I love my new Kitchen Aid!!

Bread Making Mom - I have used this mixer for 4 months. I make muffins and cakes most mornings. I make rolls and breads several times a week. It just started making noises as it rotates. Customer service is great. They are sending me a new one and shipping labels, so it does not cost me anything. I was educated that this mixer cannot handle bread dough with specialty flours at the 9 cup stated maximum. If it is wheat or bread flour, it should be under 6 Cups. Making bread for a family of 7 and guests often, I would have made a different selection if I had known.
