 The Ikon Breville Toaster features an illuminated LCD control center, and an extra large easy-to-read screen display. Select up to nine browning settings using the soft-touch dial on the Breville 2-Slice Toaster for perfectly finished toast or bagels. Watch the toaster's circular display icon as it acts as a progress indicator of the toasting cycle, or simply wait until the toaster beeps to tell you it is done making your toast. Maybe you already guessed that this 2-slice toaster from Breville is not an ordinary toaster, and you are right! Each cycle is precisely controlled by an internal smart processing to chip. If you select the preset defrost or reheat functions on the 2 slice toasting machine, the smart chip regulates the length of the toasting cycle accordingly. When you choose the bagel setting, the innermost element automatically heats faster than the outside element to give you a crunchy finish without drying out your bagel. This toaster accommodates larger bread and bagels with 1.5" wide by 6" deep bread slots. Are you tired of unevenly browned toast? This toaster provides a solution to your problem with its self-centering carriage positions for bread, bagels, and pastries to be perfectly positioned between the heating elements. Inside of each toasting chamber are mica-mounted heating coils to ensure fast, highly consistent results. Breville's Lift and Look design feature gives you the option to lift the bread carriage right in the middle of the toasting process without disrupting or resetting the cycle itself. If your toast looks finished you can cancel the browning cycle, and if it needs more time all you need to do is slide the carriage back down to let the toaster provide the finishing touch. A: The Breville Ikon Toaster is insulated. However, because it does have a stainless steel exterior it will be warm to the touch during use.

 Very happy with this Breville toaster -
It is more than an average toaster, with nice touches, such as the defrost button, wide slots that effectively toast bagels, a way to lift the handle to see your toast in progress without stopping the toasting process; and a cancel button.
You choose your level of done-ness with a number (lighted, too) and a circular lit dial that functions as a count-down to how long is left. I've had it for a year and it works so flawlessly and looks downright handsome as well. Best toaster I've ever had!
Nice unit for balance between high-quality, toast quality, and pricing.

Great for bagels -
Needed a replacement for another brand that stopped working. Did some research. This Breville toaster seemed the best. And for bagels, it is! Toasts them fast and toasts them evenly. I don't toast much else so can't review bread, cakes, muffins, or anything else..

This is the most reliable toaster I have ever owned. It browns perfectly. And the timing mechanism works better than any thermostat ever did.

Would recommend this toaster to any one . Great settings controls for darkness. Easy to operator. Best toaster I have ever owned.

 Not too bad, not too good -
The Breville Ikon works fine on toast and has a nice count down feature. Control knob should go to 9 but gets stuck at 8 due to faulty, cheap chinese electronics that then fail one month after the warrantee is out. This toaster is OK for bread but not good for english muffins unless you like to stand there and push them down twice.

Very nice looking in our remodeled kitchen. I like the bagel setting so that only one side is toasted. It is easy to clean and the setting for desired "toastedness" is great because my husband and I like different settings. Very easy to adjust.
The lift and look was great at first until I learned what settings to use. The hole in the plug is a good feature.
