I don't know about everyone else - but I love mine -
I have not had a lick of trouble with my Breville blender. The Smoothie function is awesome and it doubles as a small food processor (think hummus). Very powerful and well programmed/enginered. The blade is a beast! I disassemble and run through the dishwasher after every use. If you don't take it apart - how will you get it clean? - duh! If you're going to bottom load the base, make sure to put it upside down - if you use a heated dry, it can warp the plastic and you will have a hard time getting it on and off the motor. I did read some comments that the base would leak. If you put the gasket in the jar portion and then screw the blade assembly in, it gets twisted and can leak. Just put the gasket on the blade assembly and then carefully seat and screw in snugly. The Breville blender comes with a base wrench if you get it on too tightly and need some help. In short, the blender does require a little more attention, but it's a MACHINE and not another junky kitchen appliance. I am a fan of Breville and am currently in the process of purchasing their hand blender.

Breville Ikon Blender Model 600xl-July 27, 2008 -
This Breville Blender does a good job for the first 5-6mos. then the bottom blade area leaked out black stuff (smells like rubber) and leaked into my food. Despite taking it apart and washing it (which you need to do every time because food leaks into the silicone and the glass )it did a good job for the short time. In other words, not worth the price paid for

Horrible Blender! -
Aside from it needing Hercules to attach the blade assembly, it died after only 20 uses. Evidently it's a manufacturing defect as all the bad reviews I read are the same; black rubber bits and burning rubber from blade assembly.

Not worth the money -
We bought the BBL600XL blender less than 2 years ago to upgrade our previous blender. Suddenly one day it started and died. Sent it to the repair center in FL and they replaced the fuse for $40 incl shipping. As soon as we got it back and used it the first time it blew another fuse. Apparently there is a bearing under the blade assembly and the gasket the protects it from getting wet failed to work so over time the bearing got wet and finally seized so the blade would not spin and thus blew the fuse. The replacement part is $60 + shipping so when it is all done you pay around $100 for the repair. We threw it out and went back to the common $60 blenders and figure we'll replace it every 2 or 3 years. The Breville was definitely not worth the $200 we paid.

Breville Ikon Blender Model: BBL600XL -
The reason the blade assembly has to be removed from the jar is because every time you use the blender you have to disassemble it to rinse the parts as the silicon seal leaks slightly. It does a great job as blender but this is an annoying design feature Breville should fix.

Blender leaks -
We've had this model a little over a month, and used it almost every day. From the get-go, even we tighten the assembly, it still leaks. The silicone just doesn't' seal.

Great for 6 months -
We loved the blender for the first 6 months, but as another reviewer noted, the black rubber gasket supporting the blades started to disintegrate. The black rubber smelled terrible and contaminated everything we put into the blender. Definitely not worth the price for a blender that lasts only 6 months!

Breville Ikon Blender Model: BBL600XL -
Generally a good blender but with two major flaws. The Blade assembly is very difficult to remove from the jar. I have to do it because my wife can't get it to turn. The second issue is the blade bushing wears out easily and leaks. Good luck trying to find a replacement!

Leaks like crazy -
This blender is so expensive and it leaks like crazy. Not worth the price at all. It's impossible to get a hold of Breville customer service, too.
|
Leaks, leaks, leaks... -
The first blender leaked intermittently but we used it for two years because it shredded ice like no other. We then bought another three weeks ago that leaked! I called customer service and told them I wasn't putting up with it anymore and they sent a new bowl, gasket and cutter that was COMPLETELY different than the other. Great, they solved the leaking problem! NOT! FAIL! Worse than ever! The new cutter assembly with its slotted insert and red gasket are worthless. How does this company stay in business?

Breville BBL600XL Blender...Do not buy this -
I have gone through 3 of these. They have broken down after 15-20 uses. Gears strip, motors burn out. Not worth a repair bill after Breville warranty.

It Leaks! -
Great machine but at about the time when the warranty runs out, if you are unlucky which it seems most of us are, it will begin to leak with the blades are in motion.
