Q: Is the motor direct drive with all metal gears?

A: This unit does have all metal gears, but the motor is not considered a direct drive motor as it does not directly drive the attachments. The motor drives the metal gears which in turn drives the attachments.

Breville Stand Mixer - I love this mixer! Was looking for the other brand (the Kitchenaid), but reviews weren't very good and then I found the Breville mixer with a motor as powerful as the commercial grade KA's for a fraction of the price. Makes beautiful batter and runs really quiet too.
