The Breville Ikon 5 Speed Juicer takes the Breville Line to the next level of Juicing with this new product. This Breville features a variable speed control, which no longer limits the user to high and low or on/off like most juicers. The LCD screen displays the speed level, as well as suggestions for the type of fruit that you are trying to juice. Not only did Breville upgrade the functionality of this juicer, the power is incredible. Breville equipped this juicer with a powerful 6,500 rpm to 13,000 rpm motor and titanium blade assembly to make this the most powerful juicer in their line. The quality of this juicer was not compromised, the base and feed shoot are both constructed of durable stainless steel. Rubber feet on the base of the unit cut down on the noise level as well as increasing the amount of stability. As a safety precaution the Breville Juicer is designed to not turn on if the juicer is not assembled correctly.

Q: Hello. You did a review for the Breville JE98XL and noted that it did not do wheat grass. Will this unit do wheat grass?
A: In order to have an efficient wheat grass juice, you will need to have a masticating juicer. Both of the units you are refer to are Centrifugal. You should look into the OM8003/4/5/ or 6 series. These will be much better wheat grass/ leafy green juicers.

Q: I am contemplating either the IKON 5 speed or the Juicer and Blender combo version. Can you shed light on the quality of the IKON versus the other one? Is the IKON ok for basic use of making green juices on a daily basis in a home? I don't know how much use I would get from the blender- which is why I hesitate on this one- besides the huge price difference. Thanks!
A: The juicer in the BJB840XL combo has a higher wattage rating than the BJE510XL. The BJE510XL has a 900 watt motor and the BJB840XL juicer has a 1200 watt motor. The juicers both have a wide feed chute but the BJE510XL has a slightly larger chute at 3 1/4". The price difference is primarily due to the fact that the BJB840XL is two appliances, a juicer and a blender. Neither one of these juicers are going to be efficient at juicing leafy greens. If you want a juicer that will juice leafy greens you might consider a masticating type juicer such as the Omega 8005 or 8006 or a twin gear juicer like the Tribest Green Star GS-1000.

Q: Can you let me know how the Breville BJE510 Ikon juicer compares with the Omega 8006?
A: These are two completely different juicers, both are excellent quality.
For starters, the Breville BJE510 is a centrifugal juicer meaning it spins the juice out at a high RPM, compared to the Omega 8006 which is a masticating juicer which presses the juice out at lower RPM. Masticating tend to be more efficient but harder to clean than centrifugal style juicers.

Q: I know the 5 speed Breville is not IDEAL for leafy greens, but if I do want to add some spinach or kale to my juice, which speed is best to use?
A: You can add small amounts of spinach and kale to your juice with the Breville Ikon 5 speed juicer. You will get less juice from leafy greens with this juicer but it will juice them.

I'm looking to purchase the Breville BJE510 icon juicer in the UK - can you advise where I can purchase it from - also the ones I see advertised online show an 900 watt motor but I have a friend in south Africa that has one with a 1200-1300 watt motor but is the same code as the BJE510 icon ..?? A: There are three important differences between these two models: Construction, speeds, and wattage. The Breville Ikon 5 Speed Juicer BJE510XL feed shoot and base are both constructed of Stainless Steel for added durability while the JE98XL model is primarily plastic construction. The BJE510XL also has 5 speeds v.s. the JE98XL model's 2 speeds allowing for great control of your juicing. The power difference while being minimal should also be noted, the BJE510XL boasts 900 watts while the JE98XL model has a 850 watt motor.

Breville Juicer Model BJE510 -
I presented myself with a gift of this Breville juicer for my Birthday & Christmas 2007, based on the recommendation of a friend, who was influenced by her yoga master. It is one of my best investments. I use it every morning, juicing a combination of 2-3 green leafy veggies, as my body requires more alkaline foods and less sugar, at this time. I think that the 5 speeds are a blessing, for at times I juice ginger and citrus fruits. The lowest speed is in line with that of the maximum speed of other popular brands.Cleaning, manually, takes less than 5 minutes. I am not familiar with Breville's other juicer models, but I cannot imagine any that could be more efficient and flexible with speed. The price for what is gives?....no comparison with other brands. I wish I had received the Juice booklet, though. Well done Breville! p.s. I have recommended it to 2 friends and they too, are satisfied.

The Breville is so easy to make juice with. We have tried everything from melons and grapes to carrots and cucumbers, etc etc. The pulp is dry, lots of juice is extracted. This Breville Ikon juicer isn't too bad to clean, although the meshing can be a bit time consuming to scrub. But the included brush makes that not too hard. My only complaint is that I wouldn't recommend puting it in the dishwasher. I put a few pieces of it in and the main plastic juicing part slipped from my hands and bounced on the floor several times and really cracked up. However, it's not too hard to find replacement parts and they aren't too expensive. :) That's the only reason for my 4 stars!

This is my first juicer and I was not dissappointed! It is easy to use, from juicing to clean-up. And the free book was informative. I was trying to get my husband to eat more vegetables and this does the trick. I'd buy it again!

Well worth the money! -
My wife and I use the Breville juicer daily. We have had it over a year now and it performs flawlessly. I love how easy to clean it is, it does take a minute to get everything clean but it fits together so easily it is not a hassle like a lot of other juicers. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

BJE510XL is well worth the money. We use it 10 to 15 times a week. It is easy to clean and does a great job. It goes back together easily, you can put a produce plastic bag in the pulp bucket and the cleaning of the pulp container is done for you.
