Cuisinart has been the industry leader in coffee makers for many years, while always making improvements on their products Cuisinart has come out with this new Extreme Brew® Coffee Maker. Extreme Brew® means this coffee maker is 25% faster than the conventional coffee maker. This Cuisinart Coffee Maker is a 12 Cup with a Glass Carafe and is fully programmable for up to 24 hours. If you don't want to make a full 12 cups of coffee hit the 1-4 cup option. In this case the Cuisinart Coffee Maker will make just enough for up to 4 cups.
Another great feature of this Cuisinart Extreme Brew Coffee Maker is the heating plate, which gives you the ability to set the temperature to low, medium, or high temperature for optimal temp control. The Extreme Brew has a Gold Tone filter and charcoal water filter.

Q: Do you have to use paper filters with the DCC-2650 Cuisinart Extreme Brew 12 Cup Coffee Maker?
A: The Permanent Gold Tone Commercial Style Filter included with the DCC-2650 Cuisinart Extreme Brew 12 Cup Coffee eliminates the need for paper filters. However some fine grounds may flow through the filter and appear as sediment in the carafe. A #4 paper filter can be used in the filter basket instead if this is preference.

A: Cuisinart does not publish wattage on their coffee makers. Wattage is typically associated with how long it takes to brew a full pot of coffee. On the DCC-2650 it takes about 6 minutes.

Q: How does the self cleaning work?
A: If the Clean light begins to flash when the
coffeemaker is turned on, it is telling you that
the calcium buildup is interfering with the
functioning of your coffeemaker and the
flavor of your coffee. To clean, fill the water
reservoir to capacity with a mixture of ¹/³
white vinegar and ²/³ water. Press the Clean
button. When the Clean light glows, turn the
coffeemaker on by pressing the on/off
button. The Clean light will shine steadily.
The coffeemaker is now in clean mode.
One cycle should be sufficient to adequately
clean the coffeemaker. When the cycle is
completed and five beeps sound, the
coffeemaker will shut off. Turn the
coffeemaker on to see if the Clean light
continues to flash. If it does, turn it off and
then repeat the cleaning procedure with a
fresh solution of vinegar and water.
If the Clean light no longer flashes, turn the
coffeemaker off and then run one cycle of
fresh cold water through the unit before
using the unit again to brew coffee.
Notes on the Clean Function:
Pressing the Clean button cancels all other
settings. If it is pressed accidentally, press
it again to return the coffeemaker to all its
previous settings. Pressing On/Off will
also exit the clean mode and turn the
coffeemaker off.

Q: Do you have to use the charcoal filter with this machine?
A: The charcoal water filter eliminates chlorine, calcium and bad tastes and odors from tap water. The Cuisinart Coffee Maker will still operate without the filter. However, the manufacturer does not recommend using the Extreme Brew without the charcoal filter.

 A good cup of coffee -
I bought this coffee maker replace an Oster I have had for a couple of years. I like my coffee hot and that was not something I could ever accomplish with my previous coffeemaker. Problem solved coffee is hot, has great flavor, and is brewed very quickly with this coffee maker. This is not a quiet coffee maker and not as easily programmed as previous coffee makers and that is the only reason it got a four star and not a five star rating.
