The six presets for this stainless electric kettle allow the user to make delicate teas (160°), Green Tea (175°), White Tea (185°), Oolong Tea (190°), French Press Coffee (200°), and Black & herbal teas at a full boil. Steep tea either with loose or bagged to the strength that you prefer. You can also use the PrefecTemp® Tea Steeper as a water kettle heating up to 1.2 liters. Q: Does this have to make 1 liter everytime?
A: You can brew less than 1 liter if you would like to.

Q: Does it lower the tea itself or do I have to lower the tea into the water? Do I have to lift the tea out of the water when the timer goes off?
A: Per the instruction manual you do have to lower the infuser and press Time Start to begin the countdown. The unit maintains temperature while you steep. Once steeping is complete, you have to raise the tea infuser and serve. Keep Warm function will keep your tea hot and ready for refills for up to 30 minutes.

 Almost, but not quite, perfect -
I have had this tea maker for over a year and love it but it would be perfect if it: 1. Would automaticlly lower the infuser unit when the water is ready. 2. The keep warm function of 30 minutes is not long enough. It should be 2 hours like most coffee makers. By the time I have drank my first cup, the warmer has turned off and I have to re-heat the remainder in my cup in the microwave.
I LOVE the temperature control which allows different water temps for various teas. LOVE the countdown steeping timer. LOVE the glass pot. Cleaning the used tea leaves from the infuser is a bit of a challenge-have to hit the side of the infuser to get them out.
But it is probably the best eletric teamaker ou there. Highly recommend it.
