Q: What is the rating of the plastic bins regarding BPA free? Is this the same for all of the Deni steamers. I only am interested in a brand for which the manufacture puts in print that it is BPA free.

A: The plastic used in this model is an FDA approved number 7 (recycling) grade plastic. All the Deni steamers are made with the same grade of plastic.

Deni Food Steamer - So far, my steamer has worked well. I was, and am still, a bit nervous about its primarily plastic construction. Everything seems too light and flimsy. My mom bought my previous steamer for less money, from a local store, and it was much sturdier. Until it stops working, I'd have to say that it does steam food as it should. I just wish it seemed a bit more structurally sound.
