KitchenAid 5 Quart Professional 5 Plus Series - Metallic Chrome

    My Mixer - I love this 5 quart Artisan mixer and would recommend it to anyone. Very sturdy and heavy duty. I love how big the bowl is so that I can make big batches of whatever. Easy for clean up as well.

    Merry Mixer - I purchased this metallic chrome Kitchenaid mixer, after having the same one (smaller bowl) for 7 years. The first one I had, I burned out the motor twice. After paying over $100 for repairs the first time, I trashed the mixer and bought this Kitchenaid Professional 5 as a replacement. From day one, the motor on this machine doesn't sound right to me and there is a suspicious knocking noise when I mix with it. Although it is mixing well, the noises this mixer makes, leaves me apprehensive as to the life of this Professional 5. 7 years for a small appliance priced over $300 is not a very long life. I was hoping the first Kitchen Aid mixer I had was maybe defective, or I just used it too hard, in mixing bread dough and grinding meat with it. I am much gentler with this machine, being that it hasn't sounded right to me from day one. I didn't know what satisfaction I would receive by sending this product back once I had used it, because it was mixing well, it just doesn't sound right to me. Taking it to a local repair shop will cost me over $100, and I am not willing to spend that additional money now. So for now, I'm just hoping for the best, in that it will keep on mixing well for me. These machines are real powerhouses and great mixers, when they are working well. I would buy nothing less in a mixer than the capacity an power of this Kitchenaid. (I use it often at 3-5 times per week).
