The Carafe Leaks horribly. -
This unit was received as a gift, so no sales slip available.
The pot leaks horribly when trying to pour coffee! I have to pour over the sink to keep spillage contained. I'm wondering if bigger sized unit compensates for the fact I lose two cups of coffee down the drain with each pot poured. I called Kitchenaid, explained why I had no receipt. It was received as a Christmas Gift last December, so the unit is still technically under warranty. The lady on the phone took the model number and serial number of the unit & placed me on hold. When she returned she told me that they would send a replacment carafe for this machine. She explained that the leaking carafe is a common complaint with this model... Wonderful, I thought, as we really do like all the other features of the machine.
I unplugged the unit, moved it out of the way, and got my old machine out of storage. Well! No replacement carafe ever arrived! I'm stuck with an unusable unit that's collecting dust. I supposed I could try sell it off at a garage sale. My son purchased this machine for $149.99 at Bed, Bath & Beyond in Surrey, British Columbia, December of 2011. I'm extremely disappointed in the machine.. Poorly designed carafe with this 14 cup unit.
