I was very happy with my jet stream oven for about 1 year Them plastic cover cracked in several places so the product became useless. There are covers available for about $ 40 ( incl s+h); it is expensive considering short life spam. My sister has the same product with cover made of glass for over 15 years and proudly use it almost every day. She lives in Europe... I'm afraid our domestic product is made of very fragile material for a good reason: buy the covers every year !Sorry, but I am very disapointed with this very convenient product.

The Jet Stream Oven rules over any other oven! - |

Got the original oven in 1991 or so. Loved it and it worked great for a while then started having problems with cracked lids, heating element burning out, and broken fan belts. Got the newerJS4000T. That worked great for a while then it just died, no power to the unit. Took it apart, could not fix it, put it in the closet for years. Then I found out recently it could be the theristor went bad. So dug it out of the closet, jumped a wire across the thermistor to test, and sure nuff, it powered up! So went to Radio Shack and got a replacement part for $1.69, soldered that in, and now the oven is as good as new! When you take apart the jet stream oven, follow the power cord up to the front of oven near the fan unit. You see a small silver component, that is the themistor...also called a thermal fuse. Learn to repair your oven and it will last much longer!

I've just replaced my old jet stream oven with the latest model. Within 2 months of operation the plastic cover developed a crack and chippings occured along the rim. The old model cover is still intact after many years. I remember a TV add years ago which showed the cover being stomped on to prove its durability. I doubt if the new cover would stand up to this test. I have switched covers and would still recommend this product.

I love my jet stream oven. Have had one since before Nesco became involved. I have found that they are short lived and have become discouraged after my fourth one died cooking bacon. My husband has it apart on his workbench but could not find a cure. Thanks to your July 9, 2009 reviewer, my husband bypassed the thermal fuse and got power. My hopes are up for at least 2 of my old ovens along with this present oven. Thank you! My review for the oven is that I find it almost indispensable. Radio Shack, here's more business.

GREAT OVEN!! - |
June 25, 2008
|
Move over, microwaves! This Jet Stream oven is FANTASTIC! Cooks just as fast, but the food is so much better. Crispy fries, tots, taquitos, etc. with NO FRYING. We use ours daily, give them as gifts, and have extras in storage in case one goes down! We've found nothing this oven can't do--and it doesn't heat up the kitchen. Easy...economical...effective!

TIME & ENERGY SAVING OVEN! - |
October 19, 2008
|
We have owned and used a Nesco Jet Stream oven daily since about 1989. I demonstrated them in stores and fell in love with the speed and ease of use and cleanup. We have gone through several over the years but it does get daily use here!
The 4000 Nesco Jet Stream Oven model is the best by far with no belts to break it is very reliable.

I've had my Nesco Jet Stream oven for the last 12 years. It's a great product which fulfills all my needs however its plastic hood needs much more research to fit durability and strength!

I have had three jet stream ovens in the past. They work great for a while and then they start to malfunction. The timer won't come on, I lose the L E D readouts, the motor won't start, it stops heating up. I have not bought another one io two years. I really miss having one but I cannot throw any more money away. I wish they would get the bugs out .
Editor's Note: This customer is referring to an older model, as this model has only been out for less than a year at the point this review is written.

I have had one for years and it collects dust. There is a plastic smell that comes from it when I use it (which I find unpleasant) other people may not. It makes a mess inside the oven. After only a few uses initially (maybe 3) the belts inside that spin the fan melted and broke. I had to find a company who knew what to do and send away for the belts which are really narrow (may happen again) and fix it myself! I am not a happy camper - this Jet Stream Oven takes up a lot of storage space even standing on its hinge and I would never consider doing a turkey in it even though I bought the expander ring. Either buy a different product or use your regular stove/oven - the food is more flavourful then and saves a big clean up job disassembling and reassembling. I am sorry I bought this Jet Stream Oven and am thinking of putting it out by the road...

|
I really enjoy using this product. Need to replace my older second unit as the plastic in the hinge of the motor housing crumbled while in between batches of chicken breast. Cook lots of different foods quickly.Storage is no problem and Ilike that it hugs the counter and wall when on it's spine. My daughter has one of her own as well.

BPA free? - |
April 18, 2009
|
No one seems to know whether these jet stream ovens are BPA free. IF they aren't, then the plastic is leaching into the food! I'm concerned....
Editor's Note: I called the manufacturer, and this item is BPA free.

a great product but, - |

this is our second oven. and twice the same thing has happened. That darned plastic lid broke. What I love mosdt about the jet-stream is you get deep fried like foods without the greese.
Editor's Note: This customer probably owned the older Nesco Jet Stream Oven model JS-4000T, as this model just recently came out, and likely hasn't been out long enough to own 2 of them yet.

Love the oven...but - |

We are about to order our 3rd oven. Use it daily, don't want to be without. Only problem is it's life longevity is a little short for the money, would expect a good 5 yrs for the price. They have only lived 3yr or less... Still an awesome product, hope they continue to improve it's issues.
Editor's Note: This Nesco Jet Stream Oven JS-4000TP is a new model, that recently came out, so may have the improvements this customer was hoping for.

Jet Stream Oven - |
May 18, 2009
|
I loved the way mine cooked. I had an older model, two of them to be precise, and nothing cooked better than my Jet Stream Oven. I cooked mostly skinless boneless chicken and potatoes cut length wise as steak fries. Awesome. Durability was the complaint, as the older models had belts that broke and were not easily replaced. I hope the direct drive fixed that. It is a great cooker!

Great Product - |

I've been using my Nesco Jet Stream Oven for about 12 years or so....just starting to have problems with it. Guess its time for me to upgrade to a new model. Food takes less than half the time of my oven and all the meat is juicy!

BUFFALO CHICHKEN WINGS - |
February 4, 2010
|
This is the best by far air fried I have used to make our famous Buffalo Style Chicken Wings. They come out crispy just like we like them and we can do a whole flat of wings on the 2 wire racks. Let them cook for about 20 min depending on the size of the wings and then take them out and toss them in Franks Hot Sauce. We made one switch we no longer use butter in our sauce we no use Moove Over Butter, it helps the sauce cling to the wing much better. For those of you who like your wings a little hotter, try using a drop or two of Scourned Woman and Cayenne Pepper!

I just replaced my 14 yr old oven... The Nesco Jet Stream Oven is the greatest thing, you don't have to heat up the kitchen to cook anything, in the South that does make a difference we have used ours till it doesn't want to work anymore.
