I also own the 2-speed commercial Waring, which I reviewed at that choice. However, I have owned the single-speed Waring since the 80's and it's still going strong also. With all the hoopla for the mega-blenders, some forget that they made not need to make that much volume. For mixing average drinks at home or for average blender use with ultra-durability, this Single Speed Waring Blender is a great choice. Though the classic Waring carafe doesn't have a removable blade set, I have never found that to be a drawback. Because the glass carafe has a flat bottom it is much better than an Oster, for example, at blending all ingredients. It requires much less less spatula work. The cloverleaf design is terrific at setting up a flow of food or liquid through the blending blades. I don't use my blenders to crush ice alone, but it certainly makes great Margaritas and other slushy drinks. The base is very simple to wipe clean, with no buttons to collect food or liquid. It's just a truly classic design that still does a superb job.
