Waring Commercial Toaster - Light Duty 4 Slice Toaster

    Favorably impressed - Actually, I'd give this toaster a 4.75...only because it's not perfect...but it's pretty close. Overall, seems sturdy and well made. The basket is heavier gauge than the Breville toaster we replaced. We like the "basket lift" feature...when the toast pops up, you can lift the basket an inch or so higher for easier access...great for those end slices of breads. The outside gets warm/hot but not so hot...you can hold your hand against it and not burn yourself. The Breville toaster we got toasts one side evenly, and the other side a little darker toward the outer ends of the bread...which seems fine. The slots measure 10" x 1.5": fits one wide sourdough slice, one over-sized bread slice, 2 bagel halves, or 2 standard slices in each slot. The dial seems sturdy and easy to adjust. It's the best toaster we have purchased.

    Disappointed. The search continues... - I really wanted to like this, as it is the coolest thing, aesthetically speaking. But when the first I ordered was defective, went ahead and reordered a second one with the same internal problems. All elements didn't light up evenly- in fact, some stayed black altogether and both units were identical in this, leading me to wonder whether it was the same toaster again... Expected result was that the bread didn't toast evenly on both sides. Called Waring to ask about the problem, and was told "that was the way the elements were designed to work. Does it toast okay?" My response: Really?, and Not Even Close. I hate to say it, but I have to give up on this one. It's a great- looking toaster. If only they could get it to function properly.
