I LOVE my Zojirushi 5 cup induction rice cooker! -
My old dime store rice cooker died and I got online to research a new one. It quickly became clear that I could get many more like what I'd had, a hot pot with an on switch, or there were a very few high-end brands I'd never heard of. Even the better name brands I expected to see just had the same old thing at a higher price. Once I learned what to look for and saw the features, I realized that I wanted the things I hadn't known existed, like the keep warm feature and a chime to know when it was done. My husband couldn't believe I wanted to spend that much money to make rice. A bit embarrassed, I let it go and made rice in a sauce pot. Inedible but not intentional. I looked again to see if there was a more affordable one I could live with and didn't. While I had wondered if I had been missing something about "good rice", it was confirmed the first time I used the new one. The aroma, texture and taste of my plain old rice brand was just unreal. It was almost like trying a new food. I could hardly bare to add it to anything else since it was so delightful as it was. Having a display with a count down makes it a lot easier to time the rest of the meal too. I haven't even begun to play with the other features yet and it's already so worth the price tag. I'm actually looking forward to making dinner tonight so I can play with my new toy. My hubby, aside from being happy that I'm happy, is delighted that I can now make sushi as delicious as what he pays for at a restaurant. We are not Asian, just hip. This thing could pay for itself after all. Should this solid little gizmo ever need to be replaced, it will, without question, be replaced by another Zojirushi.
