    Customer Questions

Questions on Chefs Choice Food Slicer Model: 610

      • Q:  Is it made in the U.S.A.?
      • A:  No, this is made in China.
      • Q:  Is the blade a non-serated blade?
      • A:  It comes with a serated blade, however you can purchase the non-serated blade separately.
      • Q:  does it have metal gears on blade to motor?
      • A:  No, the back of the blade has a gear that runs off of a gear that is the back of the motor, which are both hard plastic. The star gear, also plastic, runs off of a metal worm gear inside, which is what makes the blade turn. If you regularly lubricate the gears, it will extend the life. It comes lubricated with a food grade vaseline, and you should continue to use this on your slicer.
      • Q:  Does this unit have a blade sharpener and how long can you run the unit?
      • A:  The Chefs Choice Food Slicer International Model 610 does not include a blade sharpener. As for how long you can run the unit, the manufacturer recommends that the unit be shut off and allowed to cool at least every 5-10 minutes. However, keep in mind that the time would really depend on what you are slicing.

Great for home use Review by

We have been using this slicer regularly since purchasing it. The only negatives are that it is not as heavy as a commercial unit, so it tends to move somewhat as you use it when slicing cheese or something that takes a little pressure. Also, when slicing large quantities one must always check the thickness setting because it has a tendency to slowly open larger. Otherwise, it is very easy to use, easy to clean and creates an end product as good a commercial slicer. (Posted on 5/19/16)

Excellent slicer for home use Review by

I have had this slicer for over 10 years. Got it after my other slicer froze up on me and the blade would not rotate. I have been VERY pleased with it. I use it mainly to slice raw roast (rump, eye of round, or sirloin tip) that I have partially frozen (for about 5 hours) into very thin slices to make teriyaki. The butchers could never get my meat thin enough, and I would end up with meat that was tough because it wasn't sliced thin enough. It is easy to clean and very safe to use. (Posted on 3/4/15)

    Chefs Choice 610 Review by

I read many reviews on many meat slicers, and originally thought that a 200 watt motor was better than a 100 watt one. However after purchasing another brand @ 200 watt, it did not compare to the Chefs Choice 100 watt. The 200 watt too loud, bulky, super slow blade, and poorly put together. I bought this meat slicer for my husband for Christmas and he is very pleased with it. I also ordered the non-serrated blade which works wonderful also. Slices meat very thin, the motor is not real loud, and is made well. Perfect for usage at home. (Posted on 1/8/13)

610: Great quality, great price Review by

Well made, very light and easy to carry and store. Cleans easily and the blade is simple to remove though, of course, you need to take care around the edge. Had the best ratings across the web so I bought this, my first home slicer. Consider it great for home use. Saving money and no longer having to buy deli slices that I have no idea how long they've been in the case. Works great on things like tomatoes that I was always slicing hit or miss. Chefs Choice 610 Review by

I bought this meat slicer to slice jerky meat. Mostly frozen meat works very well. I have learned to rotate the slab I'm cutting to help do away with the "tail" that happens at the slicer bottom. I also bought the non-serrated blade that work great for cooled roasts and London Broil. It will cut just about paper thin. French dip sandwiches have been consumed. YUMMY. The Chefs choice slicer is easy to clean. I'm very happy with the purchase. The price was affordable and well worth what I got. The scale is handy also. The next time I'm in the market for a kitchen gadget, I'll be looking here. (Posted on 5/15/11)

My 610 Chef's Choice Slicer Review by

Very happy with it! Living in the south now, I have to import some of my favorite northern cuisine down here, and the 610 helps me make quick work of a large roll of Taylor's Ham. Nice and thinly sliced is how we like it, and the 610 meat slicer helps make quick work of a 10 pound roll, which we then freeze. Also, this Chef's Choice meat slicer does great in the Cold Cuts area! I can now buy whole rolls of our favorite lunch meat, slice and freeze it for future use! It's AWESOME, easy to clean, and is not so bulky that it can't be stored! I am a very satisfied and happy customer! (Posted on 5/12/11)

    Chefs Choice 610 Review by

Have used the Chef's Choice Meat Slicer to slice large beef roasts for steak sandwiches and it works much better than I expected it to. I would recommend it to anyone that wanted a great product. I also ordered the optional blade. It is the one that I used, as my butcher told me to use a non-serrated blade and it worked great. (Posted on 5/12/11)

    Chef's Choice 610 Review by

Used my new 610 slicer for the first time since I purchased it from you about a month ago. We made homemade Italian sliced beef and used this slicer to cut it up. It did a great job, and was easy to clean. It was able to slice the beef very thin with the serrated blade that comes with it. Great job for the price. (Posted on 1/27/11)

New Customer for Chef's Choice Meat Slicer 610 Review by

Hello! Just got this Chefs choice model 610 Meat Slicer and I am very pleased. I shopped a lot & made the choice. Ordered Monday arrived Friday. Wiped it down after I got it out of the box then started slicing everything I could find in the fridge. Brisket is easy to slice professionally, cheeses, even veggies so thin they are see-through! This meat slicer will cover all your needs for in-home entertainment. With heavy meats like brisket just slow down a bit and let the blade do the work. Very nice! My wife is also very pleased.
