    Customer Questions

Questions on Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker (YM80)

      • Q:  How do I calculate the hours needed to set my yougurt, I use skim milk, non fat dannon and some non fat dried milk...Thank you
      • A:  I just uploaded the owner's manual for you, but I also wanted to post the except regarding your question. It states "Set the hour reminder to the time desired for the yogurt to be ready. It will take about seven hours to make yogurt with whole milk. For skimmed milk will takes about ten hours."
      • Q:  does the yogurt maker come with yogurt cultures or do i need to purchase those separately?
      • A:  The YM80 Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker does not include yogurt cultures. You may purchase them separately on our site. The part number is RI52.
      • Q:  What is the temperature that this yogurt maker operate at while processing the yogurt?
      • A:  The Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker has a incubating temperature range of 104°F - 118°F after 4 hours. The center gets warmer than perimeter with the center never exceeding 125°F.
      • Q:  The instructions say, "Set the hour reminder to the time desired for the yogurt to be ready," but there is no way to set the hour reminder. It doesn't even light up when I plug the yogurt maker in. The only thing on the yogurt maker that can be pushed is the on/off switch. No other buttons, no slider. How do I set the hour reminder, then?
      • A:  Toni, on the side of the clear lid, you'll find a small protruding indicator line where the glass lid meets the white incubator. Match this protruding line against the number located to the right of the on/off switch. These numbers represent the amount of hours you prefer the yogurt to incubate.
      • Q:  Hi, one cap of the jar was damaged. How to buy it?
      • A:  Hello Ling,

So sorry to hear that one of the caps on the jar was damaged.

      • Q:  Can the finished yogurt be left in the maker after the allotted time? How long can/should it be left until refrigeration?
      • A:  That's a great question Dan,

I have done a bit of research on this and this is what I found. As long as you sterilize the milk (boil it) before making your yogurt, all leaving out for a few hours after it's completed will do is further the fermentation process. This will make it tarter as the bacteria in yogurt grows, however it won't make it inherently 'spoiled'.

HOWEVER, while the above is true, it can cause upset stomachs if someone is not used to that strong of culture in their yogurt, and therefore the symptoms of eating something spoiled can manifest.

I would recommend that you refrigerate it as soon as you can, and use your best judgment on eating anything not refrigerated within an hour of being made.

        I hope this helps,

Hard to Wash Jars Review by

I have found this yogurt maker to have hard to clean jars... and of course no other jars fit the Euro Cuisine yogurt maker. Would have bought something else if I had known. (Posted on 12/31/10)

    AMAZINGLY easy!! Review by

I just tried my first homemade yogurt. There is NO comparison to store bought, and you are eliminating the preservatives, additives, and high fructose corn syrup. I made vanilla. You can use 1 container of store bought yogurt as a starter, as long as it has active cultures. Making the yogurt milk took very little time, boil milk, let it cool, add your culture or one container of store bought yogurt, fill the containers and let it sit for 8-10 hours while you do other things. It could not be easier and it was terrific in taste, I used organic milk and organic yogurt (1 small container) as a starter. Highly recommend this yogurt maker!! (Posted on 10/23/09)
