  1. Nice pour shield- Needed modified

I love the look and the idea behind this pouring shield for the 6qt metal bowl. I have a Pro 600. It does help keep splash in the bowl instead of the counter. However I decided to adjust the amount of inward tension it had on my metal bowl. The edges of the shield do not come down far enough on the sides so it popped off just by the slightest tap or vibration. The inward tension was way too much for the amount of holding surface area. I do not recommend this if you do not have experience molding or shaping plastic with applied heat. This can be potentially dangerous if you do not know how to use a heat gun or torch. Do not attempt if you have no experience. Must have eye & hand protection. Attempt in an open area with no flammables around you. If you have a heat gun or a small torch you can apply heat to the inner rim opposite the pouring mouth while applying out ward pressure. This technique allows the plastic to stretch in the direction your pushing or pulling on. Once it stretched a bit I took most of the inward pressure off. It works GREAT now. No popping off. The amount it moved while being heated cannot be seen with the human eye. You have to apply heat and fit on the bowl to see how it fits. If you apply way too much heat for way too long you WILL damage it. Good luck.

  3. Doesn't fit glass bowls
    Rating

The description states this should work with KSM6521X, but it clearly doesn't. The small clips that hold it in place are too narrow for the top lip of the glass bowl. I trimmed the outside clips off the shield hoping it would work. It does work better, but doesn't quite fit the bowl, sitting slightly crooked and easily sliding around. It will help when we really need to contain a mess, but otherwise won't be worth it. I really wish KitchenAid would make shields for those of with the glass bowls!

The cover comes in handy when first mixing in the wet with the dry. It keeps flour dust from getting everywhere.

I purchased this shield after buying the 6 qt mixer last year. Very disappointed in that it doesn't stay on.No clips on the lid that stay on the bowl. I can only use this if I masking tape it to the bowl, but then have to remove it if I want to stir the dough with a spatula. Real pain

Very surprised a product which has been in use for years is such poor quality.
Gave up trying to keep the cover on. Doubtful will use very often.
    I would not buy again.

Despite Kitchen Aid web site and this site listing this will fit 6 qt. kl26m1xsl it is too small of a diameter. You can bend it and get it onto the bowl but it pops right off. Everything Kitchen customer service was excellent this rating is for the product only.

Very disappointed in shield. It does not stay on the bowl and large gap. The older design was so much better! Probably wasted my money!

The pouring shield fit well on the mixing bowl and was easy to attach. This will reduce the amount of clean up and flour dust from mixing. The price was very competitive and the item was shipped promptly. The sale on attachments is appreciated! Thanks for your great service!

  11. Pouring Shield for the 6 qt bowl-life model
    Rating

I purchased the 6 qt professional model for my daughter 2 years ago. She would wrap a towel around the bowl to keep the flour from flying all over. This Christmas I got her the pouring shield for her model and she loves it. No more flour all over the kitchen or liquids on the ceiling. She was so happy and impressed, I am getting one for my 5 qt.

This is useless. It only sits on the bowl,IF you can get it to sit on there, and then you have to hold it while trying to add ingredients to a mixing bowl. It continually is falling from the rim. Do not waste your money.

I received my shield and mixer today and assembled it to mix a batch of cornbread. I found the shield easy to install on the bowel. It doesn't lock down or seal but sits loosely on the rim. I used the pour spout for both my dry and liquid ingredients and was very satisfied with how useful it was. I also mind a small batch of dough. The flour dusted more easily than the meal but was almost all contained by the shield. Only a few specs hit my counter and those likely came from my mixing cup as I was pouring. Very easy to wipe off the counter and nothing like the past when using a hand mixer in an open bowl. The mixer did a perfect job with no mess and the shield was easily wiped clean! While I do agree the shield seems somewhat fragile, I doubt it would break if dropped in your home unless you have a marble or maybe a tile floor and then really any plastic object dropped could be at risk. It is fairly low cost and light enough it's very easy to grab and put in place one handed. I have no experience with the older two piece wrap around shield that this design replaced which might explain why I am perfectly happy with the pouring shield while others are disappointed by comparison but as I am satisfied I would definitely recommend it!

I've been meaning to get a Kitchenaid pouring shield for a couple of years now, and finally did. Yikes- the big gap and lose fit. I don't get it.

Light weight with large gap in back. A real step backward from the 2 piece that surrounded the top of the bowl. This Kitchen Aid pouring shield may be better than nothing, but not much.

  17. newer pour shield vs older shield
    Rating
    60%
Our older shield wrapped all the way around the bowl so no flour could be thrown out. Our new one is much lighter material (easier to break) and has a good size gap through which flour shot out. Is there something better for the six quart Kitchenaid Stand Mixers?

  18. Pour Shield works well for dry ingredients
    Rating

I just bought a new Professional HD mixer, and got the Kitchenaid pouring shield because it seemed like a nice convenience to use the ingredient chute. It works very well, fits as expected, and it is easy to clean. The Kitchenaid pouring shield is made of a somewhat light plastic, so it wouldn't take being dropped or stressed in handling. I would appreciate it being made slightly heavier. Using the pouring shield to add ingredients is a snap, and it does prevent flour spray. I doubt I would use it for liquids though. I think this will be a handy accessory, and I would recommend it for avoiding flour mess when ingredients are added during mixing.
