It's absolutely everything I wanted in a mixer Review by Angie
In 1999, I worked as a prep cook in an upscale restaurant and fell in love with a 60qt Hobart mixer. Obviously I will never need a 60 qt mixer for anything, but I loved using it. I always fancied myself as a person who could cook from scratch, but I always hated making anything with flour that needs to be well incorporated. I always ended up overworking the dough and still had bubbles of flour here and there. I found the Kitchenaid Artisan and just wanted it right away, but I just didn't have the spare funds for it. I'm glad I didn't, because over the years I researched and decided since heavy doughs will be my primary use for it, and realized I needed more power for my needs. Finally the stars aligned and I bought the Professional 600 last Wednesday from Everything Kitchens. It shipped on Friday, and I received it he following Tuesday (yesterday). For free shipping, it was pretty fast. I decided on the Pearl Metallic color, and I want to say, it's not true to the colour in the images shown, it really reminds me of a classic duct tape color, and honestly I like it better than I liked the picture on the site. UPS delivered it kind of late last night, but I still made a batch of chocolate chip cookies and it made short work of what would have taken me forever to do. Today I made tomato basil bread, and with the dough hook, it literally only took 2 minutes to knead. I got perfectly elastic dough, flour fully incorporated in 2 minutes.
I will probably write another review after using the mixer more, but I am so happy with my purchase. I also got a little impatient with my order not showing as shipped (I was really excited about this mixer) and I was very happy with the customer service I received from Brett.

Simply the Best Review by Guest
This Kitchen Aid mixer is one of the best investments I have ever made. It is a breeze to use, and I keep it out all the time in my kitchen. My husband bought me several attachments, so it now takes the place of a food processor also! It is very versatile. (Posted on 5/12/11)

I'm pretty disappointed with this product. The marketing material stating that the 600 has a 14-cup rating and "powerfully churns through yeast bread dough" is rubbish. I recently made a batch of egg bread (6 cups flour) and after mixing, put on the dough hook and kneaded for 8 minutes at a speed of two (did you know that you can't knead with the dough hook above two? Apparently that'll break the stand mixer, per the user guide). During that time, the motor struggled to knead the dough and after eight minutes, the mixer stopped and smoke was rising from the housing, with a distinct electrical smell.
I've had this Kitchen Aid professional mixer for a little over 6 months and have used it about once monthly to make bread, and I'm honestly appalled at the performance. During that time with batches of dough the same size or smaller, the motor has consistently struggled to knead. Additionally, the paddle and hook must be hand-washed, and I still don't understand the requirement that you can't use the hook above the second level of speed.
Before you think I'm just bashing KitchenAid, we had one of their stand mixers for almost 20 years and it worked beautifully the entire time; just got to the point where I want to make more than one batch at a time and we decided to upgrade to a more powerful product (which turns out to be less powerful than the 325 watt Kitchen Aid stand mixer we had before). I cannot recommend this product. (Posted on 5/11/11)
Kitchen Aid 6 Qt Mixer: Major time saver! Review by Guest
This mixer has rapidly become one of the best appliances we own. It saves so much time and makes preparation a breeze. The Kitchen Aid Pro 600 seems to do all the work for you. Just add ingredients to the bowl and turn it on! It does the mixing while you do something else, like the next step. (Posted on 5/11/11)
