Doesn't Reach the Bottom Review by

I received this mixer as a gift for my birthday last year, after having my mother's tilt-head version (a relic from my childhood that made all my birthday cakes, cookies, and holiday treats). My mom's mixer had been such a workhorse and it was time for me to get a new, larger, work horse of my own. Ever since I started using it, I have been frustrated with several things: 1) The blade doesn't reach the bottom and consistently misses the product at the bottom, or (even worse), pushes the product away from the blade as it mixes and doesn't cream or whip anything. 2) The gears inside will occasionally make a clanking noise when mixing. 3) Finding attachment beaters that work with the glass bowl is next to impossible, when trying to remedy the first issue. I want to love this mixer like I loved my mother's, I really do... but I am getting fed up. I don't want to have to spend even more money in order to make it function like it should straight out of the box. Kitchenaid is my favorite brand, but this was a huge disappointment.

    Would not recommend Review by

Mixer leaves everything on the bottom. Always have to scrape. Contacted kitchen aid and they sent me a new bowl. Same problem. Butter never creams just gets packed on the bottom. Have read many reviews online and this seems to be a common problem. Have tried the dime trick and adjusting with no difference in outcome. Have always used kitchen aid brand. My very first stand mixer was wonderful. This one I am ready to just throw away.

    So Disappointing Review by

I bought this mixer just over a year ago. Randomly when I turn it on it won't turn on. In addition, when doing hard candy in the glass bowl there is ALWAYS a ring of sugar in the bowl. For example, I used my metal bowl with my 4.5 qt mixer last night and it worked better than my FAR more expensive 6 quart. I WILL say that I consider this model a fluke, given these horrible reviews of long time owners. I will still buy another Kitchenaid, but at this point I have to if I want my business to succeed.

    Yay and nay! Review by

My husband gave me this mixer for Christmas. I had always wanted a Kitchen aid mixer, but they were too expensive. So, I was thrilled when I opened up my present! When using it, I have experienced difficulty when trying to add ingredients while mixing. They don't pour easily into the bowl, nor does the mixer lift up for easy access. So I thought.... no problem....I will order a pour guard to remedy this, along with a second bowl. After much searching online and then calling customer service, I learned that there is one bowl that will fit (a stainless steel) and they don't make a pour guard for my model. How silly is that!? The company has been making these mixers for YEARS and don't recognise the deficiencies of the machine. Very frustrating.

Not what I anticipated Review by

I received the Pro 600 in black for Christmas and was thrilled! I immediately nicknamed it my kitchen harley. However, after using about 4 trimes now, I am not happy. It is simply too big and spatula doesn't reach anywhere near the bottom. I can't beat eggs or cream sugar and butter cuz the amounts are too small for the spatula to reach either the bottom or sides. I use to use my 5 quart daily; I am now using my hand mixer instead of this beast because it does a better job. I don't really want to give it a bad rating, because if you are mixing a triple to 5 times the recipe, it would work fine (I quadruple my dog biscuit recipe and this beast does a fine job). I should have heeded the word Pro. Simply too big for home use. Heavy, heavy, heavy. I could like my old 5 quart; I keep this one on a mat and slide. The glass bowl is difficult to clean because it is so heavy. At least make a spatula that would reach the food! Then it would be doable for home use.

    So disappointed... Review by

I got this as a wedding gift through my registry and was so excited when I received it. After just one use, I'm utterly disappointed. I made pizza dough, which I have made dozens of times in my old 5 quart model, but the paddle had trouble incorporating the flour from the side of the bowl. I had to stop multiple times to scrape the sides with a spatula. Next up, the dough hook was too far from the sides of the bowl to ever pick up the dough onto the hook. It just made a circular indent in the middle and spun around inside of it, never really kneading the dough. I was ready to pull out my old mixer, but oops! I already sold it because my new pro model was gonna be so amazing! Yeah right... After reading similar reviews online, looks like I've got to spend close to $100 to get the right bowls and attachments to make it work as it should. What a joke.

    A kitchenaid mixtake! Review by

I have been a big Kitchen Aid stand mixer fan. I purchased on for each of my daughters and my daughter in law when they married. I had a plain 5 qt white one that was noisy but worked great. I was taken by all the pretty colors and had never purchased a glass bowl for myself. So I picked a pretty color and bought a new one. I sold my sold one to a very happy person that got a great deal. Sadly I sold it before I tried the new one The beaters would not adjust so you can reach things at the bottom of the bowl. I called Kitchen Aid and they promptly sent a new one. Sadly the new one was just as bad. I could not beat egg whites and when I tried mixing other ingredients the part at the bottom of the bowl wasn't reached. I chatted online with a guy that said their people said the beaters were adjusted higher due to it being a glass bowl and that I should be able to beat egg whites as long as I used at least three. Note: Didn't work for me. He also told me I was probably using self rising flour and that I should use regular flour instead. What???? I sent the mixer back. I purchased a 6 qt Kitchen Aid stand mixer with a stainless bowl and expect it will be as great as they usually are. I'm sorry I decided to opt for the new color...it would have saved me time, money and a a lot of hassle. Kitchen Aid should take this model off the market or fix the beater adjustment as after reading the reviews I found I was one of many that had the same problem with this model.

    Frustration! Review by

I purchased this as a replacement for a similar kitchenaid model which died. It is very attractive, and the see-through bowl shows how ingredients are mixing. Thus, it is very obvious that the ingredients in the bottom of the bowl do not get combined with the rest of the mixture. The highest bowl adjustment level does not take care of this problem! I am so thankful I kept the stainless steel bowl and attachments from the old one, as they work fine with the new machine. There is no way to adjust this new mixer so that it is functional with the glass bowl and any of the accompanying beaters.

    It's a beast! Review by

I have had the 'standard' Kitchen Aid stand mixer for 30-plus years. I have loved it and used it so much I'm surprised it's still going. My son and his fiance bought me the Pro 600 for my birthday, and I was blown away. It's an awesome mixer! I love the larger capacity and how powerful it is. The two of them sit side by side on my counter and I just love them so much! I'm so lucky to have received such an awesome gift!

    Powerful Review by

I received this product as a gift. I do love it. Just a few things I don't care for. I think they should all come with the spatula mixer. The regular one never reaches the bowl no matter how I adjust it. I wish I would have gotten the tilt head. I don't like having to remove the mixer to get the bowl out. And for the price, there should be two sizes of bowls in there.

I love my Kitchenaid Mixer!! I bake a lot of cookies at Christmas & I could not do it without my Kitchenaid. I only use Kitchenaid small appliances in my home. I also want to add that the customer service is excellent. I had a problem with a mixer I purchased less that a year ago, and Kitchenaid replaced it immediately.

Powerful mixer, but with limitations... Review by

I had been dreaming of owning a KA mixer for a long time, mostly due to the KA reputation, but also, my grandma has one and I always loved watching her use it. I finally got one and loved the idea of the pretty glass bowl on this one. I now wish that I would have stuck with the tried and true KA mixer with stainless bowl. This glass bowl and mixer were designed so that the beaters never actually come close to the glass, and that is its downfall. Things never get thouroughly mixed because of this, and I often have to stop the machine and scrape the bowl. There is always flour or other untouched ingredients on the bottom of the bowl. I really feel that, for the price of this mixer, this shouldn't be happening. This is the second of this model that I have had, because the one I originally bought was flawed and KA replaced it. Other than that, this mixer runs great and is beautiful to look at. I would just recommend a different model. Wish I would have checked reviews before my purchase.

I bought this a couple weeks ago and have used it to make my secret family noodle recipe, which really cut down time and the work load of my arms and hands! I absolutely love it! I do wish that I had thought about finding heaters to fit it, since it is a special series it seems, none of the regular 600 series beaters fit it.

GREAT mixer (machine is awesome) TERRIBLE glass bowl Review by

As far as the machine goes, it's excellent. It hasn't lacked in power or performance in anything I've tried to do: triple batches of chocolate chip cookie dough, breads of all kinds, etc. My complaint (and it is heavy) is about the beautiful, light-catching, not-so-glorious bowl and paddle combination. If you're looking to buy this mixer because it has a glass bowl, just don't. Find one with the metal bowl set. Every. Single. Time. I have made bread in this thing, I have had to take the beautiful eye-catching bowl off the mixer and mix it by hand. It's infuriating. The reason is because neither the paddle nor the dough hook reach anywhere near the bottom of the bowl, so it cannot possibly pick up all the food and mix it in. Seriously? What was the design team THINKING when they made this? Did they even TRY it to see if it would WORK if they left the dough hook 14 inches away from the bottom of the bowl? Okay, 14 inches is an exaggeration. But it might as well be because there is something equivalent to a mattress left at the bottom of my bowl no matter what I do. My motivation for writing this review is that I am currently, like right now, making pizza dough. I add the liquid to only half of the flour, and then add the rest of flour after the liquid is mixed in. This is perfectly normal. So before I add the rest of the flour, I took my bowl off the mixer, and mixed in all of the liquids (because yes, dry flour was at the bottom of the bowl) with a spatula. Thinking that since I was adding more dry flour in from the top and it would get mixed in, I thought I had found a loophole! Oh no. After running the mixer enough to incorporate the rest of the flour, I found a full mattress underneath my dough. So once again, I HAND MIXED it in. But of course the shredded flour/wet mixture at the bottom wouldn't incorporate well, so I would have been better off to mix by hand in the first stinkin' place. Somebody on the design team needs to be fired for okaying this.

    Loving it! Review by

Received this for Christmas this year, replacing my original kitchenaid from 20 years ago. I am loving the ease of use, although it was a bit tough getting the beater aligned correctly. It's also sort of a bummer that my old bowls can't be used with it, as I don't always need something as large as the bowl that was enclosed. Other than that, it's fantastic, so for my big projects, its perfect, and then I will keep my original for my smaller baking projects.

Hate the glass bowl and the attachments don't hit the bottom Review by

This is my second KitchenAid mixer. I bought a new one because I needed a bigger capacity. Unfortunately, the glass bowl keeps chipping from knocking into the pins that holds the bowl in place. I have duck tape all over the perimeter of the mixer. Plus, my attachments are not hitting the bottom of the bowl. It makes creaming eggs very difficult. So sad...I want my metal bowl back!!

Solid high quality mixer Review by

I recently upgraded my mixer to the Pro600 and it is amazing. Not only do I love the shiny cherry red color, it is an excellent performer and I really like the glass bowl instead of the stainless. The only thing I wish was that it was a bit easier to get the beaters on and off with the fixed top of the mixer. When there is a lot of batter it's a bit awkward to try to maneuver the beater out of the fixture.

    Ughhh no Review by

My chief complaint is like everyone else's in that attachments don't reach the bottom of the bowl even after the half turn adjustment. This is my third Kitchenaid mixer and I'm having serious buyers remorse. Sadly I'll be returning mine.

Second time is the charm Review by

This particular model is a replacement for me. It works beautifully!! All of my ingredients are mixed perfectly and to my surprise I do not have to scrape the bowl down often. I made enough chocolate chip cookie dough for 7.5 dozen cookies with no problems. ***I recommend calling in to speak with a customer service rep. The individual that helped me was very knowledgeable and quickly took care of my problem.***

Sexy & She Can Cook! Review by

This mixer is the gold standard for hands-free design, and ease of operation, that works as hard as the Streamliner locomotive she resembles. I make organic homemade bread and pastries several times weekly in less time than it takes to buy them at the grocery store; and, it is much more healthy than store-bought. Add the ice cream maker attachment, and this is foodie nirvana.

It's a good mixer Review by

The first one made a grinding noise and the beaters were grinding the bowl. It also never came on the first time I switched it on. This one still makes a grinding noise and now, even though I adjusted the bowl height, still doesn't reach the bottom of the bowl. It works though.

Love the candy apple red............... Review by

I got this for Christmas to replace my original Kitchenaid that I've had for years. The switch has worn out and the motor sounds funny. I have tried to use the new one twice with bad results. The whisk and the paddle are too far away from the bottom and the sides of the bowl to whip smaller amounts. I tried to make Italian buttercream frosting and the egg whites never reached the right peak. And tonight I tried to cream one cup of butter and the attachments just barely touched the butter. I had to get my old one back out and hold the switch on to make some yummy Baileys frosting. Is this model only for large batches??

Mixers don't reach the bottom! Review by

I've always used a Bosch before, but I got this for a wedding gift, and was really excited to try out Kitchen Aid. To begin, it's beautiful, and I love how big the bowl is, but the glass bowl gets very heavy when trying to pour things, and the motor is a bit whiny. The most annoying part is that it does not reach the bottom of the bowl. There is always flour left on the bottom. I have to practically mix everything by hand. Super disappointed.

I bought this mixer replacing my old artisan model. I have a big family and needed something bigger to accommodate my family needs unfortunately this pro 600 design doesn't work. It doesn't mix well i always end up with uneven mix batter. I hate it! I calibrated the mixer and nothing. I did the dime test and still no good. I'm to the point of returning this mixer.

    Extremely Disappointed Review by

I got this kitchen aid as a gift for Christmas. Just opened it and tried to make a chiffon cake. It couldn't even beat 7 egg whites properly in the glass bowl. The beater just doesnt reach the bottom even after adjustment. It beat the top of the egg whites but egg whites at the bottom of the bowl were not beaten at all they were still liquid. I was so happy to receive this as a gift and now I'm not sure what all the hype is all about. If I have to mix everything by hand I will try to return this to the store. So disappointed.

    Very Disappointed!!!!!! Review by

I bought this after owning a 4 1/2 qt tilt Kitchenaid that was great but wearing out. It arrived and it looked great. I went to make waffles that night and was going to whip up some egg whites. Much to my dismay, it can't even whip the whites. The attachments don't even come close to whip anything like egg whites or even whip creme. Bad design, I wish I had my old one back instead of the Professional Model.

The glass bowl is too heavy and I now have a hand injury. Review by

The 6 quart bowl is so heavy that my left hand is injured at my thumb joint from holing it while I poured the cske batter while baking for the holidays. I got a replacement metal bowl and it does not fit my very expensive mixer. I will be putting this on Craigslist and replacing with the metal bowl mixer. The hand injury also now has to be dealt with. ?

I hate this mixer Review by

I bought the Pro 600 stand mixer to replace my 12 year old smaller tilt head kitchen aid. I gave my old one to my 10 year old daughter who wanted her own mixer for at her dads house. I absolutely hate this mixer. I have used it twice and will be buying a new tilt head smaller mixer. I loved my old one and will get another one of those. It is so hard to use and the glass bowl is heavy. Design is terrible.

This is one powerful machine Review by

I decided to update my 25 year old, probably older, Classic mixer with the Pro 600. What a world of difference. A bowl large enough that flour doesn't come flying out; a slow speed that's actually slow, and an engine powerful enough that it mixes things in half the time. I can hardly wait to make whipped cream.

Unfortunately - it just doesn't do what it's supposed to do Review by

Well I'm at my wits end. My First one had a bad motor in it, and had to go back in exchange for a new one. But even after this one was brought home, it's still a HUGE disappointment. I had a fantastic red lift head Artisan mixer that ADORED. Unfortunately for me, it was a bit too small. So last year, my husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday and it was without a doubt the Professional 600 bowl lift model. I have kicked myself in the rear end ever time I try and use it now. I have adjusted the calibration to it's maximum point and my food STILL sits unmixed in the bottom of the bowl. I figured that maybe buying an expensive rubber edged mixing blade would then help. It didn't. My next option was to use another option of the KitchenAid half batch bowl and mixer - yet another expensive part that has now just contributed to outrageous cost of this mixer that was supposed to make my life easier. Every year I bake cheesecakes for the family at Christmas time - and I was so embarrassed this year when I delivered cheesecakes that had huge unmixed lumps of cream cheese that went unmixed - and this was using the half batch bowl! I just want to cry - This was not only my dream mixer - but my 50th birthday present. I'd stay FAR away from this one for sure - read the ratings on other models first - not all of them are bad - most of the stand mixers are totally worth the cost. This one however isn't worth a trip to the store. I am heartbroken,,,

Extremely Dissappointed-Very Poor Quality Review by

I got this as a Christmas gift last December and have used it only 5 times this year (once to make a batch of cookie dough, once to make sausage with the sausage attachment, once to make whipped cream, yesterday to make pizza dough and this morning to make pasta dough). While making sausage over the holidays the metal piece where the attachment goes on the front of the machine came off. I can push it back in but its broken. Making whipped cream was a failure because the whisk doesnt reach down far enough into the bowl. I ended up have to maked the cream with a hand mixer instead. This morning, i was making a single batch of pasta dough with the dough hook. It takes only a couple of minutes of mixing for my pasta dough to be ready. I locked the bowl in place and set it to mix and stepped over to the sink to put my spatula in. I had only looked away for a few seconds when i heard a crack and then an explosion of glass. I turned the mixer off and found the bowl broken and shards of glass everywhere. These bowls are expensive and ive taken great care with it. I don't understand how this could've happened. I had my last kitchenaid pro for 11 years with not one single issue. I'm incredibly dissappointed with this mixer and feel bad that the person that gave it as a gift spent so much. I would not recommend this product and given it been a year and a month now since it was purchased, am not sure what to do with it since the warranty was only for a year.

    Worried Review by

Got for Christmas and I've used it twice. Butter and sugar stay in a clump at the bottom because beater doesn't do a good job reaching. Thought maybe it was the glass bowl so I've called and they will replace the bowl to see if that fixes the problem. After reading similar complaints, I'm worried that this is a lemon. Been dreaming of having a kitchen aid for years. Hope it's not a disappointment.

    Overpriced boat anchor Review by

I fretted about spending so much on a mixer, I love the old kitchenaid stand mixers I've used as a professional so I made the leap. WASTE OF HARD EARNED MONEY! After many adjustments, I still have to hand mix my cookie dough at the end. This totally defeats the purpose of a mixer! I can honestly say that making cookies at home was supposed to be easier with this machine but instead just makes them harder and ups my stress level. Especially when my husband comes home to find me making cookies with my old hand mixer instead of the expensive 'KitchenAid' you insisted on spending so much money on. ..... Thanks a lot Kitchenaid! But wait... There's more... The table is set, the company is seated, the prime rib is on the table, its Christmas 2016. I leave my Kitchenaid to do the final step.... Whipped cream for the pies... Literaly 20 minutes later... Sweet cream is all I have. This piece of garbage will not whip cream! Any recipe that requires 'light and fluffy'.... Ha, you're kidding right? Nope... Get out the hand mixer, or find a new recipe!! Guess I bought an overpriced door stop!!!

    Poor quality Review by

I previously had a 4 1/2 quart mixer that I used for 30 years, and 8 years ago I upgraded to the 6qt. The other evening when I was making a small simple batch of biscuits the mixer made a horrible noise and I stopped using it. The gear box leaked and motor seized. KitchenAid used to be gold standard but not any more. I expect a heavy duty mixer to be exactly that. My mother-in-law had hers for over 40 years.

Love the Quality, but... Review by

My husband bought this beautiful mixer as a gift to me because I love to bake and there is no other mixer I would use as the KitchenAid is such great quality. As other reviewers have commented on,1) the bowl glass bowl is heavy. I worry that I will drop it while cleaning. 2) the beater does not scrap the bottom or sides of the bowl. I bought the flex edge beater hoping for a solution but alas, it does not fit due to the thickness of the glass bowl. I wish that I could return this and get a non-glass bowl. If someone at customer service has a solution, I'm all ears. PLEASE

    Gears Stripped Review by

I've had my Pro 600 HD for about 4 years now and use it only a couple of times a year. Was making cookie batter tonight and while mixing, it suddenly made this horrible grinding sound and quit mixing. I quickly stopped the machine - but it was done. Opened the top of it to find that 2 gears have completely ground down. I do not use it hard - and it was cookie dough! I expected better from this mixer - especially at the price. From reading online, seems like it is a common problem and failure. Attached a photo of the ground gears. I've heard good things about the cuisinart mixers. Might have to go that route. Don't recommend at all.

    Not happy Review by

I had a KitchenAid stand mixer for years, white professional version, I loved it. Unfortunately the motor started going out - I guess I used it to much. I saw this mixture on TV where you can purchase it for so much per month, we were redoing our kitchen with red accents so I thought it would be perfect. I purchased it but it isn't smooth running as my previous version and it does not reach the bottom of the bowl. I have used it now for about a year and it's making more more noise banging around and doesn't do a good job. I am completely unhappy with it and need to know how I can get this serviced. The bowl is awfully big and heavy, I can deal with that if it just wouldn't seem like it's falling apart every time I use it, also I would like for the paddle to reach the bottom of the bowl so that I could I wouldn't have to scrape the bowl.

Was so looking forward to replace my old Kitchenaid (27 y) Review by

I did adjust the bowl height as per manual. I can not get it totally centered. I am doing a lot of baking and have to constantly stop and scrape down the front of the bowl as well as at the end mix in by hand what is left at the very bottom. Glad I kept my old Kitchenaid. It is extremely frustrating. Will be returning this one.

About time i got one Review by

After using a hand mixer for 20 years for baking, it was finally my time to get the all might kitchenaide mixer. Doubled a batch of cookies with mixing ease. Looking forward to a weekend of baking. Next step is to get attachments for even more kitchen cooking, baking, food prep ease!

    Poor service support Review by

I've had the pro 5 plus for 12 years. I used it quite a bit at first but for the last 5 years only infrequently. It's been sitting on my countertop the whole time with a cover on it. Went to use it last night and it failed to operate. Guide book did not offer much in the way of tips so I called customer service. I live in Sacramento and the closest repair is in San Jose. The other option is purchasing a ship kit for $45.00 to Greenville, Ohio plus a repair cost of between $45-$200. They could not offer any local repair places. This is really poor customer service. So my rating is for customer support.

Great mixer but doesn't mix the bottom Review by

My husband bought this for me and I was very excited to receive it. However, I've noticed it doesn't scrape the bottom. I can't beat egg whites properly! It's a powerful and beautiful machine, but I have to stop and make sure the mixture at the bottom of the bowl is mixed in properly. Is this the same across all other lines? Other than that, everything works great!

Does not reach bottom of bowl Review by

Bought my wife a new 600 mixer to replace her very old kitchen aid. Her chief complaints are 1) glass bowl is very heavy 2) mixer does not reach the bottom (with the adjustment all the way down) resulting in a layer of ingredients not being mixed by the mixer

    TERRIBLE! Review by

I have been wanting a larger mixer for some time and decided to splurge. On my first experience, I found the paddle didn't even touch the bowl so I tried to used the screw to adjust the height. The screw WOULD NOT BUDGE! I spent a fortune on a machine that can't be used. Since I purchased through a TV network, service is on me. Outlook so far, not good...

Excellent product and customer service Review by

We bought the mixer about three years ago because it was a great price and exactly what we were looking for for our big family. Everyone from me to my toddlers uses it to some degree in everything from mixing dough to making whipped cream. It can handle both the tough and delicate things. The only reason we replaced the old one is because the bowl broke. Customer service was awesome about getting everything replaced and making my kitchen complete once again. The only con is the sound. It can get pretty loud throughout a house depending on the location of the kitchen.

Replaced my mixer of twenty years. Review by

After twenty years of hard use, I felt it was time to replace my mixer with a new one. Never had a problem with my old mixer though.

Gave my old kitchen aid away. Should have kept it. Review by

Beaters to not go to the bottom of bowl. Have to keep stopping and scraping the bowl to mix. Not easy since this model has a lift bowl, not a tilt head like my 20 year old Kitchenaid was. Seems quite powerful and I like the larger bowl (wish it was metal though), but definitely a design flaw in the beater fit to bowl.

    Love it!! Review by

My husband bought this for me because I can no longer knead the dough for bread, make noodles by hand anymore, etc. due to arthritis. It has made baking enjoyable again. When I save up enough money, my next purchase will the the pasta attachments. Thank you so much, I love my KitchenAid mixer!!
