Q: Hello - Is the ring 18/10 or 18/8 stainless steel?

A: According to the manufacturer it is made of 18/10 stainless steel.

Q: can I cut a 9 inch cake layer in the frieling ss layer cake slicing kit?

A: Yes you can do that, just have to use the included clip to hold the mold.

Q: Hi, how is the stainless steel ring secured? Do you remove the ring to move the slice, then rewrap the stainless for the next cut and layer removal?

A: The stainless steel ring has a latch on the side that holds it secure. Once the ring is secured you would use the knife to slice all the layers you wish to have. Then you would remove the stainless ring and use the layer lifter to remove the separate layers.

Q: I purchased a Frieling Layer Cake Slicing Kit. What I need to know is there another piece that you use to bake your cake in prior to slicing. If so, what is it called.

A: The manufacturer recommends using the extra deep ceramic bottom springform; item # Z4350. The springform is 3” deep. This pan is listed for $66.50 on our site at this time.
