5 speeds? More like 2 Review by

Bought this because the cheap one I had broke after 2 years. I use it to make cookies, muffins and cakes. Took this out of the box and washed the beaters and put it away and threw the box away. It's Kitchenaid right, that shouldn't be a problem. Wrong! Took it out 2 weeks later and it won't even cream butter and sugar. Had to let butter set out for another half hour before it would blend it. It had already been sitting out almost an hour. Hopefully the store takes it back with no box. Most mixers show you how many watts their mixers are Kitchenaid does not on this website. Now I know why. They are trying to sell these based on brand only.

    great mixer Review by

I got this Mixer as a Christmas present to replace a mixer that I have had for years and absolutely loved. I am always skeptical when purchasing new products because, as the saying goes, they just don't make them like they used to. This mixer is an exception (so far). It is very powerful and mixes thoroughly without flinging the contents of the bowl all over the kitchen. I do a LOT of baking and am looking forward to using this mixer frequently. Plus, the color rocks!

Very Poor blades too thin feel cheap won't mix well Review by

Could not wait to get this hand mixer. Have the stand mixer love it. Replaced my grandmothers black and decker mixer that finally gave out. I love kitchen aid products this one was a huge disappointment. The blades are to thin and cheaply made. Will not mash potoes leaves chunks (my old would almost over mash so strong). Also cake mix not finally mixed. Do you have better blades for this?

    Poor Quality Review by

I just received this mixer as a Christmas gift. (A kitchen aid hand mixer was on my list). This mixer does not compare to my old kitchen aid mixer that I had for many years. This one is not anything I would recommend to anyone, let alone a friend. I wish I could return it, however, since it was a gift, I have no receipt, and I don't know where it was purchased.

Model KHM512ER 5-Speed Bought 10/26/14 and just 2 years later during Thanksgiving 2016 slowed to a stop and quit. We used it maybe once a month...why would I buy this brand again?. OK mixer, generally agree that it had weak power and not very high speed.

    Good Mixer! Review by

I bought this mixer about a month ago. I did not intend to use it often, however... I used it to mix up banana bread batter this morning and I *love* it. I have a feeling this will be used a lot more frequently than I thought it would be. My only wish is that it came with another attachment tool beyond just the beaters for the price of the item.

    Disappointment Review by

Our 28 year old Hamilton Beach mixer that was bought in 1988 died in January this year. I purchased a KHM512ER 5 speed mixer to replace it. It does not have the speed or power to whip potatoes and definitely the speed to whip egg whites to make peaks quickly. Called manufacture on Tuesday and received many apologies for units poor performance. They sent out a new one since it was under warranty. Received new one on Friday and it is not any better. Will look for new one.

    Underpowered Review by

Received as a Christmas gift after my 22-year old mixer died and finding out the $10 replacements are loud & clunky. I always wanted a KitchenAid! Turns out it's beautiful to look at, wonderfully weighted, smooth & quiet......but EXTREMELY underpowered. Top speed is incredibly weak and doesn't whip for squat. I've tried making whipped creams and puddings with flat & kind of watery results. For straight Mixing, it's fine, but why not just use a spoon at that point? Unfortunately, I have no proof of purchase for a return, but am looking around for a good deal on another brand.

I expect more from Kitchen Aid Review by

I am so sorry I bought this mixer! I was replacing a Black and Decker that I received as a wedding gift in 1990 that finally wore out. I LOVE my Kitchen Aid stand mixer and Kitchen Aid dishwasher, but was so disappointed in this hand mixer. It is weak, definitely not the powerful hand mixer I was expecting. In addition, the beaters are rattle-y, especially one beater which doesn't sit squarely in the housing and vibrates terribly. I have to clean up splatters each time I use it. I expect more from a Kitchen Aid.

Had this hand mixer for 15+ years Review by

I got this mixer probably 15+ years ago. Before I got this mixer I went through 2 other name brand mixers in a week one was my moms from 1970, I went through them trying to make biscotti and spritz cookies for Christmas. They all burnt out. When I got this mixer It was my first kitchenaid as soon as I started mixing the dough I saw and felt the difference this mixer had no problem going through the biscotti and spritz cookie dough. Now I own several kitchenaids And still adding more. I recently donated this mixer to a wonderful charity and knew who ever got this mixer would love it as much as I do and have it for many years to come.

beware of plastic pieces Review by

This mixer had been quite good until yesterday when my wife was making cookies for our son's birthday and noticed a small chip of plastic in one of the cookies. We examined the mixer and noticed that plastic piece into which the mixers insert had chipped off. Fortunately, we think we found all the pieces but it was startling to say the least. We have a Kitchenaid dishwasher and refrigerator so this isn't an indictment of the brand, just our mixer.

    Three years Review by

We loved this hand mixer because it was quieter than other mixers and worked well. However, the other day I was mixing pancake batter (no nuts; just plain batter), and the inner mechanism holding the left beater broke, leaving a small piece of white plastic and a tiny metal ring in the pancake batter. The mixer now only holds one beater. We like to pay more for an item when we know it will last long-term. This mixer is nice to use; it just isn't very durable.

Keep your old mixer Review by

I bought my 5 speed Kitchen Aid hand mixer a few years ago and yes it does still work. That is good. But my old mixer was made so much better. The beaters in the Kitchen Aid are so thin that they hardly beat the batter. Also the 5 speeds seem hardly different one from the other. If I had to do it over again I would not purchase this new mixer I would keep the older one.

I ordered this hand mixer to arrive in time to cook our Thanksgiving dinner and couldn't be more pleased! It is affordable without sacrificing quality. 5 speeds made for easy mixing and whipping, not to mention the ease of using and cleaning it. The color is even prettier in person. You won't regret this purchase!

    broken beaters Review by

I was happy with the product and performance until one of the beaters broke (wire separated at weld). This mixer was only 3 years old. Will not bother replacing the beaters as I was told by KA that if anything was wrong with the design, they would have updated them, and the Turbo Beater II from the 7 speed mixer would not fit (neither of these is true).

    Didn't last Review by

I was super happy with this mixer when I first bought it. Easy to use, quiet. I think I have had this for less than two years. Just recently one of the beaters is falling apart-bottom beater wires on one beater are separating to the point of hitting the other beater. Now yesterday, the speed control is no longer working. If the mixer is plugged in it is automatically running. No way to adjust the speed or shut it off unless I unplug it. I am guessing this is out of warranty, but shouldn't it last longer than this?

Problems with beaters breaking Review by

I have had this beater for ~ 2 years. My beater heads have both come disconnected from the stem of the beater. My previous hand mixer lasted me 20+ years. While these heads are thinner than my previous mixer, which may have benefits when mixing (which I am unaware of?), I would expect that they should have lasted.

    Hand mixer Review by

I love kitchen aid appliances. I have always had a kitchen aid mixer and one day my old one (20 years old) finally gave out on me. I purchased another one and love it as much as the ones in the past, even better. Before I bought this mixer I bought a cheap one and got just what I paid for (junk)

Worked well until it broke Review by

This was Cook's Illustrated's top hand mixer, and I received it as a gift in December 2014. Over the next three months, I used it three times to whip cream and found it to be comfortable and efficient. On the forth occasion, I found that one of the beaters could no longer be inserted into the base. It looks like there's a bent spring in the way. KitchenAid does have a replacement policy, but they want an original receipt and I'm not even sure who gave it to me so I have not called.

Great things come in small packages! Review by

This is a wonderfully powerful little mixer. When I don't want to use my husband's professional model KitchenAid mixer, I whip out my little hand held model and it is perfect for my needs. Thank you!!!!!

Kind of wish I went up one more model... Review by

I was looking for a basic little mixer to supplement my 6qt. KitchenAid mixer. This one works okay, but somewhat wimpy. Kind of wish I went up one more model for an extra speed or better power (?).

    Saved the Day Review by

I bought this mixer in an emergency and based my decision on a recommendation from a friend. It saved the day....but I wish it had more power, especially for beating egg whites. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks for asking.

Handy mixer for quick and easy baking Review by

This hand mixer is perfect for quickly whipping up eggs, cookie mixes, and other baked goods. The removable beaters make it easy to store and it comes with 5 speeds. The instructions also provide good tips for speed & proper accessories for each type of baked good.

Ultra Power Describes It Review by

I bought this to replace the KitchenAid I bought over 25 years ago. This one is just as light and powerful but is more quite. An excellent hand held mixer.

    Good basic mixer Review by

My previous mixer started on turbo speed and the low was not a true low. But the low on this mixer is a true low and that makes me very happy. I would appreciate the high going a little higher or a turbo boost option. But otherwise, it's really a great basic mixer.

    Great features Review by

This is my second Kitchenaid hand mixer! My first one is boring white and works perfectly fine. The only reason I purchased another one was I was mixing to close to the stove burner and melted the cord on the white one. I love this mixer it does a fantastic job.

This hand mixer had so much more power than I had with an old hand held. It was up to the task and performed well. My sister had purchased one and recommended it and I will do the same.

    Love It Review by

I love my new mixer. It is quiet, and the slow speeds run slow enough that my mixes are not splattering all over the kitchen. I also like the stainless steel beaters. I have bought cheap mixers before only to have the chrome plating eventually chip off. No worries with stainless steel.

    Great hand-held mixer! Review by

Comfortable to use and powerful enough for what I need it to do. If I could add just one more feature, it would be an ultra slow speed (something I've never seen on any mixer but have always wished for).

    Dissappointed Review by

I am not happy with the speed of the mixer. I was making cookies and thought the motor was going to stop or burn out when flour was added to the batter. I thought with five speeds it would have more pop than it does.

I have had this mixer about 2 years now, and it has never given me any trouble. I received it as a gift, so wasn't sure of the quality, but I have been very happy with it. It is much nicer than The ones that my friends put up with! :-)

Review of 5-Speed Ultra Power Hand Mixer Review by

I received this as a Christmas present and I'm so glad I did. It was put into immediate use. With lots of family gatherings during the holidays this gift was used more than any other. I especially like it for whipping mashed potatoes right in the pot and for whipping cream for all the desserts.

    Ultra Power? Review by

At first you feel that each of the speed accelerates as it should, but once on the highest speed, you feel like it's not really so high after all. I guess I should have purchased the 9-speed.

    Somewhat Disappointed Review by

I bought my handmixer with the thought of the Kitchen aid quality and durability in mind. Unfortunately, I am not pleased with the ability of my mixer. I replaced my Hamilton Beach mixer with a Kitchenaid mixer and wish I hadn't. The Hamilton Beach mixer was twice as strong as this one. They are both 5 speed mixers but the Hamilton Beach model had much more power than the Kitchenaid. I regret my choice of purchase.

    Best Gift Review by

I got this as a birthday gift a few month's ago from my husband to match the stand mixer I got for Christmas. The cakes I've make have turned out moist, fluffy and seem to bake leveled. I haven't baked anything other than cake so far but I'm sure it will be just as good. I would recommend this product to everyone.
