The high-fired terracotta clay maintains optimal moisture levels and desirable food textures depending on the area climate. No more rock-hard breads. Simply soak it in clean water for 20-minutes, pat it dry, and place it in with the bread and other soft food items in an airtight container. It releases moisture slowly to retain food softness. Should the items begin to harden, repeat the soaking process and place it back in with the food. It's ideal to maintain moisture in bread, dinner or kaiser rolls, bagels, soft-baked cookies, tortillas, brown sugar, granulated sugar, sugar in the raw, turbinado sugar, and sugar substitutes, baked goods, cakes, soft-baked cookies, marshmallows, and dried fruit. Used dry, without soaking, it absorbs moisture and retains crispness in crackers, pretzels, chips, crunchy granola bars, and nuts, and keeps spices, salt, and flours from caking. Made from high-fired terracotta clay, Mrs. Anderson's Baking Bread Saver is reusable, food safe, heat safe (to 1,112-degrees Fahrenheit), and should be rinsed with clean water only, no soap, as it could leave a trace taste or scent.
