  1. Dice is perfect size
    Rating

Bought just to dice. Right size for my recipe to dice potatoes, carrots, and rutabaga. I hope in the near future they make another insert to a larger dice size. I think a larger dice would be better for soups and things. Still working on an easier way to dice the meat, maybe a thick slice and cut from there

As a Dlicer-Dicer I would rate this 5 stars, but if you want the features of a true food processor you still need to have a stand alone. We have a great tabletop food processor so we purchased this item for what it is designed for. I think to call it a food processor is a misnomer.

  6. Great Idea, Poor execution.
    Rating
    20%
Great Idea and actually a good design but it does not perform as well as I expected. The dial on the side to adjust thickness is a great feature. This does work, however it requires taking it apart and clearing out the disk for the dicer after every vegetable (I tried with onions, bell peppers, and jalapeños) the dicer gets clogged with the skins. I only used the dicing blade. I like the way it will just drop your results into a bowl of your choice as this makes it easier to do large quantities, but constantly having to take the top off, clean the dicing disk, etc. just proved too much work.

Wanted this so badly to be able to have things fall into a bowl. I began unpacking the box, realized in person just how small the feed tube is and packed things back up. Never tried it. I knew that it would be small - in person though I realized that things like cucumbers would have to be cut in half to fit, the feed tube isn't big enough for a plum tomato. I am okay with trimming things down some to size a bit, however this was ridiculous.

Bought this & spirilizer for my wife. I used it to make sure it would do what she needs.(she is a baker & cook). Sliced potatoes into hash browns to see how it would perform. Was very disappointed. This processor cannot be used for anything liquid either. If you wanted to make a simple gram cracker crust (by pulverizing grams), you could not do it. Unit has good power & I can see usefulness in some areas. It's more of a slicer than a processor. Spirilizer is great.

This makes my life so much easier. Easy to clean and switch blades. I can put together salads and stirfrys in 2 minutes.. littlerally that easy. My only comPlaint is when I dice tomatoes the middle part gets full of juice and is hard to clean... maybe it's a user problem ? I'm not entirely sure. I use this nearly every day and is by far the sexiest appliance I have. Worth every cent!

I am very pleased with the products ability to process whatever I run through the various blades. The only complaint that I have is that the dicing disc is frustratingly difficult to get clean. Fragments of food get lodged in the dicing grate where the tiny gaps occur at the points where the metal meets metal to form the squares.

I guess this attachment has a big learning curve because I was not at all happy after using ALL the attachments to make salad and it ended up almost juicing the veggies. I wanted to dice cheese and it just stuck in the wholes in the blades. I'm hoping to be able to watch some YouTube videos and figure out why it was such a disaster. The manual for sure needs to be much more detailed.

My husband and I finally bought the 7-quart pro stand mixer after years of mulling it over. The reason we finally made the purchase was because our food processor broke and we figured we would like the all-in-one feature of the stand-mixer with food processor attachment. Although we love the stand mixer and pasta attachments, we are not very impressed with the food processor and are wishing we had bought a separate food processing unit.

I got this as a gift and it does not fit on the mixer correctly. Unless I put some metal pieces inside the Hub it doesn't spin like it's supposed to. Customer service was great and tried to fix the problem they sent me a new food processor that did not fix the problem it was the same problem. I took my mixer back because customer service said it might be a bad hub I exchanged the mixer for a new one and it still didn't work. All my other accessory pieces work fine but the food processor will not work properly without Extra metal pieces inside the Hub.

First of all I don't know whose ingenious idea at KitchenAid it was to put a hole in the bottom but they need to be fired. All this product really is in reality is a food slicer. It's not a food processor like you would think. Had I known this before spending as much as I did on this unit I wouldn't have purchased it. Debating whether or not I want to continue purchasing KA products since it seems the product designers there seem to be lacking some brain cells. If I could rate this lower than a 1 star I would.

We purchased this as a Christmas present to ourselves. While we didn't use all of the blades this came with we did use it a lot for shredding cheese and vegetables. We noticed recently that the base where it attached to the Kitchenaid mixer was cracking in several places where the top cover locks into place as well as the bottom of the base near the drive mechanism. One piece of the plastic cracked off and landed in our food we were preparing. Fortunately we found it before the piece was eaten.

I asked for this attachment for Christmas and was so happy I received it. The blades come in a case to keep them organized. I watched a YouTube video to figure out all the things I could do with each of the blades. I found that to be very helpful- easier than reading the owner's manual. I have used it now for slicing (mushrooms, zucchini, potatoes), dicing (celery, onions) and shredding (carrots). It makes all these jobs so fast!!! Warning- obviously the blades are very sharp so be careful when cleaning.

What a blessing this processor has been for me, I have carpal tunnel and arthritis and I gave up chopping. My hand and wrist would hurt for days. It wasn't worth the pain making all my recipes that required chopping. I watch the kitchenaid infomercial on the food processor it is pricey and waited for it to go on sale. So, one day after Christmas I bought the processor, and a bunch of other KitchenAid attachments. I love each one but especially love the processor, I can make my homemade soups and salads again. It was worth the money I spent! It is a well made product and does exactly was it claims to do beautifully.

This was a treat I registered for when I got married and while I have used it on occasion, the truth is I think I would get much more use out of a freestanding food processor. It doesn't seem to be the same to put food in from the top and allowed to chop as it is to create sauces and salsas so the processor that can open from the top and I can dump liquids into.

I received this as a Christmas gift to help with some recipes I wanted to try. I get a little frustrated because when I am using the attachments I still get some of my foods not shredded or diced the way I was expecting. But I am still enjoying it because it beats doing it the manual way which I still tend to do on occasion depending what perfection I am in the mood for. It is easy to use, I still read the directions to make sure I put it together properly. Sometimes though I am afraid that I will get food on the part that isn't submersible in water and that makes me nervous.

I've used the chopper the most for apples to make apple pie, potatoes to boil for mashed potatoes. for big batches, it sped up the process dramatically. Before I hand cut everything and the pieces would be different sizes causing my cooking time to not be exact because the bigger pieces needed more cook time, while the smaller ones would be overcooked. With the food processor, the pieces are very similar in size and the cook time was more appropriate.

I have used to make cole slaw and after I got the hang of cutting cabbage in long slices it works great. Have diced potatoes and sliced carrots for vegetable soup, shredded cheese. The clean up is pretty easy and it works great. I was a little worried when I bought thinking that it would be flimsy hanging off of the front of my new Artisan Mixer, but I was pleasantly surprised at how stable the whole unit is. Love my mixer, Food Processor, and Spiralizer. And to think for all of these years I thought it would not be worth owning a Kitchenaid Mixer and attachments. Has made my life easier cooking.

  110. More work than a cutting board and knife
    Rating
    20%
I really, really wanted to like this attachment. I've had it for 2 months now, and every time I get it out I wish I had just used a knife and cutting board. I got it thinking it would be great for making large batches of vegetable soup for freezing. And I could envision slicing zucchini and potatoes for scalloped potatoes. However, the feeding shoot is so narrow, that you have to chop the potato into quite thin sticks to fit it in...so there's no way to make a full zucchini or potato circle. Once you've chopped food down enough to fit it into the shoot, you're already half way done, so this really doesn't cut down the workload much. Today, I made two crockpots and a stock pot full of soup. I thought the Processor would make the job quick, but I ended up clearing potatoes and carrots out that jammed up the machine...so between fiddling with that and the extra cleanup time, I'm pretty sure this process took longer with the machine than by hand. In addition, the dice feature only makes a certain size cube, and it's really too tiny for anything I can imagine making. In soup, the pieces lose their consistency. To top it off, it's always a puzzle getting the blades back into the box (even though it's labeled really well, I can never get it to close). Save your money.

I love Kitchen aid products.. This product is a bit cumbersome with more involved cleaning of the parts. You can chop your food faster with a good knife. The kitchen aid attachment pack of the grinder and shredder is easier to use and works better. Unfortunately I think twice before I use the food processor attachment- regarding clean up and time. Food gets jammed or clogged in the parts- A knife is a lot faster. Sorry. I really wanted to love this.... but I can live without it.

I say I would recommend this but that comes with an IF. I actually returned mine. This is a great attachment if all you need a processor for is to slice, dice, and shred. It leaves some residual stuff but other than the really expensive ones that is hard to get away from. The dicing insert is great though hard to clean. I discovered I also really want to process stuff with a blade. You can't do that with this attachment. For me it was too expensive to have such limitations. I got a regular food processor. If you just want to slice, dice, and shred though, this does the trick.

We din't try all the options yet, so far so good. The only concern we had while using the shredding blade on the potatoes, there is allot of residue/ bigger peaces due to the fact the pushing plastic peace did not go deep enough to make a good contact between the shredding wheel and potatoes. Other than that - a very even and easy operation.

I received this as a Christmas present. I have a Cuisinart food processor but wanted this one because you are not limited to the bowl size allowing you to keep processing without emptying each time the processor bowl was full. It assembled fine and my first task was to grate several blocks of cheddar cheese. The first two blocks went through ok with very little pressure needed to advance it down the feed tube but the next block post grate blade got packed into the drop shute causing all the cheese to backup. I had to disassemble and clean the entire thing before completing the task. I have not tried it yet on anything else. So just a warning when grating cheese keep an eye on it.

Good food processor, powerful. Doesn't save on space, so Im not really sure what the advantage is of having it be attachable to my stand up mixer. Relatively easy to clean. my biggest complaint is there is a lot to learn and not much labeling. Very specific speeds must be used in order for it to function and those speeds are relative to the shredding disk you are using. CONFUSING!!! So I had to rip pages from the manual and tape them to my kitchen wall so that I can remember just which setting is for which job.

I absolutely LOVE my KitchenAid mixer! I absolutely HATE the food processor attachment... I used it twice to slice potatoes for frying and once to dice tomatoes, it performed terribly in both duties. It actually broke while slicing my second batch of potatoes and now only makes a horrible grinding noise and the blade no longer spins. Overall I am very dissatisfied with this product. Ignoring the case it broke on the third use it never performed as expected. Out of all of the wonderful KitchenAid products and attachments stay away from this one for sure. My observations: - The chute is way too narrow! I had to quarter my potatoes just to get them into slicer. - The cutter wasn't sharp enough. It often cleaved the potato into slices, it didn't slice them cleanly. It left chunks of potato on the leading edge because it was pulled apart, not sliced. This created differing thichnesses and caused issues when frying. - The last piece of potato remained on the blade and continually spun around in the cutter until dislodged manually. This happened to most of the potatoes I sliced, forcing me to stop processing to clear the blade constantly. Not a time saver for sure. - Even tomatoes were not sliced cleanly, they were pulped. Not good for salsa at all. - The blade doesn't spin fast enough. This attachment processes only about 2 cuts a second. The speed isn't a problem but in my opinion the blade doesn't spin fast enough and this causes many of the problems I identified above. For a product with the KitchenAid name on it I am unhappy with the quality and results. I received the attachment for a birthday present and by the time I used it it was too late to return it. I highly recommend you stay away from this attachment and get a dedicated food processor.

This appliance is excellent. I expecially like the ability to select the size of the slice with the slicing disk and really like the dicing. I dice onions without 'tears'. It has now replaced the KitchenAid Food Processor that I have. I really am excited to have this product to go with me KitchenAid mixer. My other KitchenAid Grinder/Slicer (that I have used for over 30 years) was showing a little crack in the plastic, so I decided to purchase this. Could not be happier.

I, like so many others, was very disappointed to find that I had been mislead by this attachment being named a Food Processor. I couldn't believe that it does not come with a blade/ability for mixing and pureeing like every other food processor out there. I bought this for the food processor and thought I was getting a bonus in the shredder, dicer, slicer, etc. At the time I purchased (over a year ago), there was no mention of this in the reviews I had read or the description. I would not have made this purchase if was named for what it actually does. It is still sitting in the box and has never been used because I have yet to find a need for it that is greater than my disappointment.

Overall I like the food processor attachment, it mostly does what it's supposed to do. However, 2 things do bother me: First, the julienne blade does not really julienne. What comes out doesn't really look any different than when you use the regular shredding blade, which is a bummer since I really like julienne cut vegetables. Second, since this is not designed to where you can just have a blade on the bottom like in a traditional food processor, you can't use it to shred really really fine or purée. It's also on the pricey side. The dicing blade works great though.

When requesting this product for my registry, I did not realize that food processor did not mean it could blend items like most processors on the market. This one only chops, slices, dices, & juliennes. However, besides this mistake on my behalf, the reason this processor receives poor ratings is because the first time I used it, the blade chopped part of the plastic off the top lid when I was slicing sweet potatoes. Ever since then, parts of the food I cut up gets caught in the top and doesn't go all the way through or gets shredded funny. I would definitely prefer a standard food processor blender on the market over this attachment. I do not recommend.

This is nothing like I imagined. You practically need a bowl the size of a tall vase in order to catch the food to keep it from being splattered all over your counter and floor. Also you need to really chop the food into small pieces in order for it to fit for slicing. I couldn't even fit a small cucumber in to slice whole. I've sent it back for a refund.

I have to say that the Dicing Kit is a fine piece of equipment. It made slicing and dicing veggies so easy! I used it to make apricot jam and all my apricots were evenly diced. It worked best with frozen fruit as the apricots were quite soft and the fruit often got mushed up but I was making jam so it wasn't the end of the world for me. I love the marked spots for the blades - it makes putting them away a breeze. I would love if KitchenAid could fix, or make a seal of some kind, so that liquid and small particles did not get into the inner assembly portion of the machine. Cleaning it is kind of a pain in the behind - not so bad with hard veggies, but if you has soft fruit of veggies like tomatoes the juice gets inside and is hard to get clean. We use it to make coleslaw, slice and dice fruit, onions, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes. Love this!!!

For example, I wanted to make pesto, but you can't do stuff like that with this attachment. It doesn't grind and mix like a regular food processor. The food falls right into the mixing bowl, because there's a chute at the bottom. There's no way to cover it, and no space in the attachment to act as a container for something like pesto to be mixed. What a waste of money.

I purchased this attachment because my regular food processor finally quit working after many years of use. I did not realize at the time I purchased it that there was no bowl to process food in like a stand-alone food processor has -- to me this is a VERY bad design flaw. Because sliced, diced, etc food passes straight through you have to have something below to catch the food. The problem this causes is that processed food gets all over my cabinet and floor. I ended up having to purchase a stand alone food processor and completely wasted my money on this attachment. Do not purchase this unless all you want to do is slice and dice -- it's a very expensive slicer and diver -- save your money!!

My Cuisinart food processor went out -- after many, many years of good service -- and I decided to purchase this food processor attachment to replace my Cuisinart food processor. I was extremely disappointed when I realized that I could not in fact use it as a food processor -- there is no bowl to process anything in. I do not like the fact that it sits so high from any kind of container your food slices, etc. and I am constantly having to pick food up off my counter and floor. I really regret having purchased this and ended up having to purchase a regular food processor after all. I hate that I wasted my money on this expensive attachment.

It is easier for me to do everything by have as it sits in my cabinet taking up space.

Bought this mostly to shred cheese and chop things for salsa. It is NOT a good design, it doesn't do even close what I wanted or expected. (Or should do, for the amount of money it cost) I regret buying this 1000%. Should have put the $ towards a traditional/actual food processor. The cheese just balls and clumps up (even harder cheese) and it doesn't dice tomatoes or anything. I'm hoping I can get a different food processor next Christmas. Very very very disappointed.

I should have gone with a traditional food processor. I had been wanting a new one for a long time and had decided on the KitchenAid. At the store a salesman asked if I had the mixer and suggested the attachment. It gave me the option of getting the dicing blade for about the same price and I thought it made sense to just get an attachment to an appliance I already had instead of a whole new one. I did not clearly think through all I was giving up by going this route. I've realized I do more that requires chopping in the bowl than just slicing things. I like dicing with this but it's really hard to clean and stuff gets into the center post and is horrible to get out since you can't immerse it. It was a good idea but in the end is not what I needed. As a product it's fine if that's the type of work you are looking to do. For me it was a bad choice and now I feel stuck.

My parents bought this attachment for my sister and I for Christmas under the impression that it was a food processor, which it is not. I would gladly give it five stars if it was properly labeled for what it is. Truth be told I have no use for this machine because it cannot do anything that I can do with a knife and a cutting board. The reason I wanted a food processor in the first place was so I could make pesto, and purees, and nut butters; among many other things. With the so called Food Processor Attachment I can do none of those things because the machine does not continue to process the food one you put it in. If someone from kitchenaid could respond to this review I would be extremely grateful, and hopefully we would be able to come up with some sort of solution to my problem.

I bought this back in February of last year. The first unit failed right out of the box and broke my mixer. KitchenAid replaced the mixer and I returned the defective unit. I have used this approximately once a week to once every two weeks for less than a year. A couple of weeks ago, the vegetables started clogging up the dicing grid. The grid blades were completely dull. I finally called KitchenAid and found just the grid part was going to be considerably expensive to replace and I asked if it should not be under warranty? After all, it hasn't been even a year. When I was transferred, the woman I spoke to insisted I bought it in November of 2014 -- I did not - I have the sign up coupon I got from the retailer where I purchased the first defective one and the text to get the coupon is dated on 2/23/15. They have records of all this because I called them after discovering that the defective unit had broken my stand mixer. But they are refusing to honor the warranty because they can't change the date without a receipt. I am truly disappointed at how cheaply made these units are for the price at which they are sold. It's a great concept, but terrible execution. I asked the woman on the phone why they were selling these as commercial style and her response? That only applies to how it looks. So this is a very pricey product for something that looks commercial but works for less than a year? I think not.

I was about to give up cooking but with this attachment, I'm back in the kitchen and even prepared a giant pan of turkey/ chicken dressing for Thanksgiving. My sweet potato pies were a joy to prepare!

I bought this for the cooks in my household (hint I'm not one of them). I tried it and had so much fun dicing carrots and potatoes, even celery for split pea soup. I'd recommend it to any one who cooks. I was enthralled by the tiny cubes of veggies in the bowl. Down side the dicing attachment is somewhat difficult to clean even with the gadget supplied for cleaning it.

Bought this a few months ago, primarily for the dicer function. We make our own dog food for our pets and dicing the harder vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash) was taking it's toll on our hands. When we saw this attachment, we thought it would be our savior. The first few times we used it, it was flawless, worked perfectly, but after the third time, it started having problems cutting through the vegetables and would jamb and chatter (I'm sure the chatter is from a safety clutch, just in case of a jam, as to not damage the attachment or mixer). We thought maybe we had some particularly tough veggies, so we partially cooked them to soften them some. That worked for about 2 more sessions (we make our food in 3 week batches), but even that stopped working. Now just about anything, even something as soft as a cucumber causes a jam of the mechanism. My observations: 1. The tolerances are too loose. the rotating blade does not come close enough to the dicer, and leaves a big chunk still above the dicer plate, which the blade hits as it come around and slows the blade down. 2. The blades are poor quality steel, will not stay sharp, not sure it the issue is the dicer blades or the rotating blade. but it appears that as they are used, they will no longer cut well enough to properly process the food. 3. The safety clutch is too sensitive (or maybe faulty) in the unit I have. I've had the product for over 3 months so it's probably not under warranty, and it's been used too much to return to the store. So I'l chock this one up to a learning experience and toss it in the trash.

I just got my hands on one of these and it chops like nobody's business. Zucchinis just fall through it and sweet potatoes just need a little nudge to make perfect little cubes due to it's powerful slicing blade that runs under the surface. The grating feature, however, is similar to the original KitchenAid grater attachment. Be careful not to drop the unit with the pusher in the shute, as the hard plastic may break. I'm sure the slicer and the julienne functions will be fabulous too. I'm retiring my original to one of the kids. Get the storage box...it's a must...so neat and tidy. You won't regret it.

I am very dissappointed with this attachment. It is not a food processor. It is going back asap. I registered for this for my wedding and was so excited at first when I received it. Before I even opened it I went out and bought all of the ingredients to make hummus. Imagine my disappointment when I unpacked it and realized that all it does it chop and slice. It simply slices and drops down into a bowl - one that you provide yourself. I am sure this is just fine for some people. But to call it a food processor is a misnomer. A food processor is used to make hummus, pesto, pie crust, finely chop nuts, etc. You cannot do that with this attachment because the blade is not in the bowl, going through the ingredients multiple times. I am writing this in order to help others who are thinking about purchasing, so they know what to expect. I thought this would be a useful space-saving appliance, and get another use out of my stand mixer. I guess my hopes were too high for this attachment.

This is a great kitchen tool if you have a load of produce you want to chop, slice, or dice. I purchased a fair amount of onions, peppers, and zucchini and found that this tool was able to get the job done in a much shorter time than I could have done myself. I froze the chopped/diced vegetables in plastic bags to be used at a later time. My only hang up is that it is called a food processor which suggests to me that it will also pulverize food which it does not. If you purchase produce in volume and don't want to cut the vegetables by hand, then this is a great tool and highly recommended. It is a great attachment for my Kitchenaid mixer and works as directed.

I have only used my Food Processor Attachment a few times and I have to admit it requires a little finesse to operate, but the results are wonderful. Some of the food gets stuck between the tube and the blades, but I think that is more operator error than the machine. I don't think I've mastered feeding the tube correctly and here is where the finesse comes in. I'm confident that the machine and I will eventually be simpatico. I love the dice attachment. After several tries I came to the following conclusions: - the dicing disc and blade work fantastic (5 stars) - the julienne disc works good (4 stars) - the adjustable slicing disc works good (4 stars) - the reversible shredding disc noes not work good, it is really dull (1 star) I received a replacement reversible shredding disc (thank you so much customer service!!!) but this was just as dull as the first one. Quite a bit of food gets trapped between the discs and the lid, but the cleanup is easy. I don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong, or attaching it wrong (but there seems to be only one way to attach it so ...) but there's no power with this appliance. No matter what speed I use on the blender, the processor only goes one speed - slow. It made mush of some cheese I tried to shred, and when I tried to slice an apple, the slice thickness was all over the place. I was so disappointed I almost took it back, and probably should have. I just expected better from Kitchenaid, ya know?

I had been looking at this for months and finally bought it. I was excited when I received it and totally disappointed when I used it. I will admit, I have only had it one day so it might be user error. I tried to shred cabbage and it would not do it. I tried to dice green onions and they just spun around in the bowl. If there is a secret to doing this, they need to provide better instructions. However, if a prduct needs detailed instructions to use it, it is not a good product.

I saw this on a QVC infomercial on TV. The dicing attachment sold me. I first used it to dice apples for apple-cinnamon waffles. That met with rave reviews from my family. My next effort was to make stew, and it was there that its limitations became evident. While the smaller dicer works great for soups, for stews I prefer to chop up my veggies into larger cubes -- approx 3/4 in size. The dicer only comes in one size -- small. Which is okay, of course, if the only size you want is small. Another time I wanted to finely mince some onions. There's no mincing/chopping attachment. So how about it, Kicthenaid? Any chance of you making a larger dicer and/or a mincing/chopping attachment available to purchase as an option? So for what is provided, this attachment works great, and I highly recommend it. But you must remember that if you wish to do more than slice, dice small, and shred, you're out of luck.

My son bought me a much wanted Kitchen Aid 600 Professional Series stand mixer for Christmas and I decided to purchase some accessories. I own the 14 cup KA food processor and have often lamented about the inability to dice neatly. So when I saw this kit I decided to go ahead. I have really enjoyed the ease of use and the beautiful chopped up vegetables added to salads or meals. I like that I can dice into the mixing bowl then move the bowl over to the mixer to add other ingredients and immediately stir together. Worth the wait.

I got this for Christmas and I have used it nearly daily since. I love the adjustable slicing, and the dicing tool has cut my prep time in half. You need to watch speeds depending on what you are prepping. Some call for lower speeds, some higher or else you get uneven slices or you can jam it up. Partially freezing things like cheese is a MUST for easier grating. Clean up is pretty easy on everything except the dicing blade, a small baby bottle brush is helpful for that one, but it is a little tedious to scrub.

Just received this as a Christmas gift. Finally got it out to slice potatoes. First thing I noticed is that the opening is WAY to small to put in whole vegetables. Pictures show sliced tomatoes. I don't know how you would get a tomato in there. Even cutting the vegetable in half would not work. I ended up having to cut the potato many times before it would fit. Ended up with little tiny pieces. Not good when you are frying them. Also, the unit as a whole would NOT stay attached to my mixer. It would come loose every time I started it. I wanted this to replace my stand alone food processor but think I'm going to have to stick with my old one. I have not tried any of the other attachments yet. Hopefully they will work better, but still not sure how to keep it attached to my mixer.

One complaint when I wanted to make a past of bread crumbs, basil, garlic and olive oil there is no way to do that. Which means I have to buy a separate processer for making paste, or fresh bread crumbs. I bought one for me and for my daughter, but very disappointed that I couldn't use it for the bread crumb etc. mixture. I make a lot of things that just would us the blade but it doesn't work that way. If that is a way to do this or another attachment please let me know. I use the pasta maker and that is great. But this food processor is a little disappointing.

Received as gift for Christmas - was excited, but the person who purchased didn't realize it was just a slicer/dicer and I can't let them know how disappointed I am - so I put it back in the box and hope they don't realize I will probably never use it. You need to make it clear on the box what it can do and what it can't do. I was wanting something to make cookie/cracker crumbs. Oh, well!

Allow me to start with the dicer disc and blade, of which it works very well for celery, onions, green peppers and carrots (what I tried). The shredder for me didn't work well at all. I tried shredding cabbage for coleslaw, it worked terrible, came out slow and like mush, I gave up and used a hand shredder. Tried shredding carrots and onions for coleslaw, this too was not a good experience, like one would expect these products to shred. So far this is the only items I have tried, due to the newness of receiving Food Processor. I hope Kitchenaid will improve on making this better or contact me if I am doing something wrong. I would not recommend this product at this time, until these various things I mentioned, improve in quality.

I have only used this a couple of times, but have been very happy with how easy it was to slice up large amounts of veggies! It is very convenient to not have to empty the food processor bowl again and again, when preparing large batches. My only suggestion would be to have a larger feed tube so the veggies wouldn't have to be cut up so small.

  404. I love the dicing attachment!!!
    Rating
    80%
I have been using the food processor attachment for about a month now and absolutely love it. The slicer has worked great on everything from cucumbers to carrots. I also like having the ability to adjust the thickness of the slices. I have also enjoyed the julienne attachment but don't use it as often. However, with how much I love those features, they don't compare to how much I love the dicing kit! My sister and I make about 125 pints of salsa each year. Most of our time is spent chopping and dicing the produce. The dicing attachment makes this process so much faster and easier. After cutting the tomatoes and peppers to fit the opening, it is a matter of seconds before you see perfectly diced veggies fall in to the bowl. The only problem I ran into with the dicing attachment was that when I didn't peel the tomatoes, after a few tomatoes the skins block the dicer. I had to either open the processor to clean it out, or run a harder veggie through to clear the blade. Tomatoes are the only thing I had any problems with. The other thing I love about the attachment is that I am not limited to the amount of produce that will fit in a food processor's bowl. Before I had to constantly empty my processors bowl. With the attachment, you place a bowl beneath to catch the food. The only limitation is the size bowl you choose. Besides the struggle I had with tomato skins, I did find one other challenge. When processing juicy produce like tomatoes, the juices can go over the edges of the easily cleaned liner and fill the cracks and crevices of the attachment. This can make cleaning a little harder. If the liner met up with the lid better, this wouldn't be a problem. Finally, is there a way to mince using this attachment? With a stand alone processor, I would run it longer using a chopping blade. The processor I used did not come with a users manual and I was not able to figure out a way to mince. I use that feature often and it would be a helpful function on this attachment. Pros: Easy to use. Versatile. adjustable slicing blade. Variable speeds through mixer controls. Perfectly diced vegetables. Time saver. Easy clean up. Not limited by size of processor bowl. Cons: Tomato skins can plug up dicing attachment. Juices can escape the liner making cleaning more difficult. I have not found a way to mince using this attachment. Overall, I love this attachment and would recommend it to others. It is worth it for the dicing attachment alone.
