Have you ever had to stop mixing to scrape the edge of your bowl with a spatula to ensure even mixing? This KitchenAid flexible edge beater was designed by KitchenAid to help with this problem. It scrapes the sides of the bowl as you mix, making sure that everything is mixed well without having to stop. Made from coated steel, just like the flat beater, this Flex Edge Beater thoroughly mixes your ingredients without losing batter that sticks to the beater. Add some more flexibility to your KitchenAid Tilt-Head Mixer with the Flex Edge Beater.

This works very well with my stand mixer. Made several batches of cookies for Christmas and the scrapper blade attachment performed very well. A definite must to have.

Having used the standard KA flat beater for 50 years with my old KA, I'm really pleased with the flex-edge that I bought with my new Artisan model. It does an excellent job of scraping the bowl & incorporating ingredients. Just a bit of extra scraping at the top of the bowl is all that's been needed so far.

I bought this tilt-head flex edge beater for my Aunt who owns am at home bkery. She needed something to get the edges of the bowl clean and this defiantly did the trick. It's easy to attach and gets all of the batter mixed perfectly! I would highly recommend this product for any baker.

Got this to go with my new stand mixer as they don't make a compatible one for my really old KA mixer. You have to scrape sides a little...but only at end. Saves lots of time and aggravation!

  7. Flex Edge Beater Concerns
    Rating

I purchased this beater about four years ago as a replacement for my original standard beater, when the paint on the original started to crack and peel at the connection point. Recently, the scraper appears to be leaking an oily substance. When I first noticed the problem, I hadn't used my mixer in about three months. The beater was siting in the bowl. There was what appeared to be oil all over the scraper, and a puddle of it in the bottom of the bowl. I thought someone hadn't washed it properly, so I washed it and then used it. I made sure that I washed it, myself, this time to be sure it was done properly. I checked it a week later and found the oily substance on it again. This time I resorted to using my old beater. Thank goodness I kept it as a back-up! I don't know what that oily substance is, but I hope I didn't poison my family by using the beater. I will not buy another scraper style beater. I would also note that I had the same issue another reviewer noted. The scraper had a tendency to flip ingredients out of the bowl, but the splatter shield helped. I also found that the scraper never actually scraped the sides of the bowl. I have a 5 qt model. Perhaps it works better on the 4.5 qt model.

  9. Use with the splatter guard.
    Rating
    80%
I bought the tilt-head flex beater thinking I wouldn't have to stop so often to scrape the edges of the bowl. Which it does. But some of the dry ingredients get thrown out of the bowl when mixing. Also, the liquids you pour in will also be thrown out. Much more than with the regular beater. I stopped the mixer & stirred the ingredients together. This helped a great deal. I do have the plastic splatter guard for the top of the bowl. Which I will use next time. The guard should cut down on splatter.

The beater does a good job however after a couple months of use the enamel has chipped off the bottom. I don't like using this paddle because of this.

If you like making cakes this is definitely a must. You can whip up a cake and absolutely no time. You could also use it for cookies but I don't mind using the original flat beater for making cookies. This works great for frosting as well. And whether you look inside your metal bowl or outside of your glass bowl you can definitely see it scraping.

  16. Paint on bottom of beater chipped off the 3rd time I used it
    Rating

I was excited to buy this beater on vacation sometime ago. We were then gone for 6 months and just had opportunity to use it now for the 3rd time. It seems to do a good job, but certainly need to use my shield when adding flour, etc. Today I noticed something white sticking out of one of my baked cookies. It didn't look like a possible egg shell and with further searching found out small pieces of the white paint had chipped off the bottom of the beater. That made me :(

  18. Paint chipping, but works great

The item works well and am otherwise happy with it. It does scrape the sides well, but does not scrape the center on the bottom of the bowl. However, the white coating is chipping off at the base, where it connects to the Kitchenaid. This worries me bc I obviously do not want paint chipping off into the food I am preparing.

Gotten this for an extra beater. For me, I noticed the texture of my batter was smoother than the beater using the same ingredients. Either way, it was a welcome addition to my kitchen.

It has a good design and scrapes the side of the bowl really well. I just wish it got the bottom of the bowl better. I'm constantly having to scrap up flour and butter from the bottom to get it to mix in.

My Hubby gifted me a Artisan Stand Mixer for my birthday/Christmas! The flex edge beater along with some other items were included as a bonus items. I love my mixer and I love the flex edge because it makes baking our weekly cookies a breeze and less messy! It scales the bowl and it's quicker to use this instead of the regular paddle because no stopping and scrapping is involved! Best invention ever!!!

I bought this so I don't have to keep scraping down the bowl , and I love it I don't if it's just me or what but I made a Whipping Cream Pound Cake and the batter had a different texture to it , it seemed lighter and a little fluffier than usual. Now I have to get second one for my other kitchen aid now.

  26. super convenient
    Rating
    100%
Not having to scrape the bowl anymore is just so convenient. people complaining about this making a mess are probably cranking up the speed right from the start. I bake 4-5 times a week consistently (cookies, cakes, tarts, bread, etc), and I have never had any issues like the ones that they described. You should always start the mixer on the lowest setting and when the dry ingredients are mixed a bit (and you want to slowly add them in, not plop all the dry ingredients at once, for even mixing), then you can crank it up to 2. For cakes, you shouldn't be using higher speed setting, because you don't want to form too much gluten by working the batter too much. The higher setting is meant for bread kneading. The standing mixer also come with a splatter guard, just in case, but I never use that. The only thing I don't like about it? I don't know if it's dishwasher safe, and I hate handwashing it. :(

What a mess this thing makes, took longer to clean up the area than it did to make the cake. The beater does scrape the side of the bowl but then it flings whatever it has scraped off everywhere. It does this at the stir setting, probably if you used the 10 setting there would be nothing left in the bowl. Big disappointment, would return it if I still had the paperwork. So if you do purchase this item keep your paperwork!

  29. Very Good Beater

This Kitchenaid flex edge beater is amazing. I used it yesterday for making a no-bake cheesecake filling that has cream cheese in it. I normally find that the cream cheese sticks to the edge of the bowl and I have to get a spatula and scrape it back in a few times. With the flex edge beater, I didn't have to do any such thing! The mixer bowl didn't have a speck of cream cheese sticking to the side. This flex edge beater works by having a little rubber spatula on the edge of it that scrapes the bowl as it goes around. It is amazing.
