      • Q:  Could you please tell me how much the 8 quart commercial stand mixer weights, also are the gears made of metal or plastic
      • A:  Hello!

The KitchenAid 8 quart mixer weighs 31 pounds and the gears are all-metal and precisely designed.

        Thank you

The following are included with this model mixer:
        Wire Whip (Stainless Steel)

      • Q:  What is the flour cup capacity for this mixer. Does the motor struggle if/when the flour cup capacity is reached.?
        Thank you.
Love love love Kitchen Aid Mixers.
      • A:  Hello Michele,

We appreciate you reaching out to us with your inquiry!

The flour capacity for the KitchenAid 8 Quart Commercial Stand Mixer (NSF Certified) - Empire Red, is 16 cups. If you add in more flour than the capacity, the motor may struggle to mix being you're adding additional ingredients to the mixer bowl.

Hope this helps! Enjoy your day Michele!

        Thank you,

        Everything Kitchens
      • Q:  Could you please tell me how many kg the 8 quart commercial supports? I want to mixer 6 kg of ingredients that doesn't complete 8 qt of volume. So volume isn't my problem, I just want to know how many kg I can use in the bowl. Considering that 1 liter of water is the same as 1 kg of water, theoretically I could use 7.5 liters of water as weight.
      • A:  Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

The KitchenAid 8 Quart Commercial Stand Mixer (NSF Certified) - Empire Red can handle up to 16 cups of flour which in conversion would equal 3.785kg. I have confirmed this information with the KitchenAid Commercial Division. If you would like to speak to a care expert in their commercial department, their phone number is 1-855-845-9684.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your day!

    Wow! Review by

I have used Kitchen Aid mixers all my life. I still have my grandmas old one. This is my first commercial stand mixer. It goes from stir to 10. I don't know what happenes above speed 5, but I have never made it above speed 4. Speed 4 is like 8 on my Professional Kitchen Aid. It is also sooo much quieter. Its just amazing. Invest in the scraper blade. That little beauty is amazing!

    Best Mixer Review by

I bought this mixer to replace another KitchenAid mixer. I simply love it! It can handle the large double and triple cookie batches that I make without seeming to work hard at all. It is quiet, sturdy, and the Espresso color is beautiful.

Very quiet & durable! Review by

I bought this in 2014 and have been very happy with my purchase. Everything works really well and hasn't failed! The only concern I had from the start was the wire whisk attachment breaking, which eventually happened. Two of the wires snapped, so now I can only whisk with half of the wires. Overall, the piece is perfect, very quiet, and my best purchase from Kitchen Aid thus far.

    Good, Better, Best Review by

I went from the 5 qt. to 7 qt. to 8 qt. (14 cups of flour, thank you very much) for my cookie baking needs. It's just as easy to mix 7 dozen cookies as 20 dozen, I'd rather go big. Runs just like my smaller Kitchenaid mixers, just bigger and better. I couldn't be more pleased with the reliability and strength of my past KitchenAid mixers, so I stayed with the trusted brand, why mess with success.

    Great mixer Review by

Great mixer. Steady and quiet. Sometimes I feel the 8QT bowl is a little too big for my family, can I buy a smaller KA mixer bowl, like 5qt or 6 at, to use on this 8qt mixer?

Love this mixer :} Review by

Bought this mixer for a small cookie business that I have started, and it has made life so much easier! It handles a batch of 8 dozen Greek butter cookies easily, and I can do a batch and a half if I need to, although at that amount of dough it is creeping up the mixing arm, but not so much that it gets into the top of the machine itself, which it does at the two batch level, but that is a lot of dough! So I am very pleased with the capacity this machine has, it is fairly quiet as well, and sturdy, does not wander around the counter, I am comfortable walking away while mixing to get more ingredients. Also, some reviews have said the bowl is difficult to attach, but once I read the instructions it was easy, you do have to press firmly to lock it in but I don't find it hard at all. Overall very satisfied!

Great Mixer, Needs Some Improvement Review by

Great mixer, but because of the torque in my opinion this mixer should have been weighted more. In order to eliminate counter bounce. Also, the highest setting equals 8 on my old K5.

    lots of power Review by

I really like the power this kitchen aid mixer has. I can mix many batches of bread dough right in a row and it doesn't overheat. I don't like how the dough climbs up the beaters and gets in where the beaters hook into the mixer. The bowl should be bigger around.

    Absolutely Superior Review by

Growing up in a home with a Kitchenaid Pro-600, I knew that I wanted a Kitchenaid when I moved out on my own. Until recently, finances stood between me and my dream purchase; I didn't want the $199-basic consumer model, that's for sure! I am very glad I held out to buy the mixer I truly desired. The 8-quart commercial model is a beautiful workhorse. Speed 10 is quiet enough to have a conversation over! I recall the 600-Pro being extremely loud and eventually succumbing to a gear malfunction within 5 years of purchase. This is a pricey mixer, but I have no doubt that it will last me well into my 40's and (hopefully!) beyond. If you're on the fence about which model to purchase, you will absolutely not be disappointed with the high-end Commercial Series. It's well worth the extra money.

    Big step up! Review by

I bought this after burning out my old KA making bread. The attachments for this are stellar and my bread dough is coming out softer than ever. It's extremely quiet while being strong with heavy loads. Moving it isn't a chore as it's fairly light. Overall highly recommend to anyone making professional level bread or large batches of dough and such that can put a load on smaller machines.

Sorry to say I'm disappointed Review by

My Artisan was was too small for my use so I decided to purchase a new and bigger kitchenaid. I just received my KitchenAid NSF Commercial today, and I couldn't wait to try it. I wanted to make a small portion dough for pizza, but as soon as it starting mixing it started saying a loud clicking sound. I used setting 2 as advised in the brochure. I am very disappointed, as I expected a top quality product.

    Hard Worker Review by

I have had this mixer for about a month now and have been very impressed. This my second KitchenAid mixer and the largest of the two. The grey color and stunning in person and the bowl it rather light weight considering its construction and durability. As a baker, I place great strain on this mixer and usually it will have no issue. But load the bowl to much, and the dough hook will really struggle to kneed triple batches of medium tough dough. Fit and finish is rather good except a few loose areas such as the chrome strip and the bowl lift connection. Additionally, I really wish the bowls were cheaper to easily buy a few extra!

    Heavy duty mixer Review by

I bought this mixer to replace my 6qt. Kitchenaid mixer. I make biscotti professionally and sometimes my 6qt would overheat (only 2 yrs old)and stopp til it cooled down enough. This is a very heavy duty mixer and runs so much smoother than the 6qt. The machine is the same size at least in appearance but the bowl is much deeper and the mixer blades are much heavier. The only drawback is that it's heavier so if you are weak maybe you should consider another brand.

Its all about the motor Review by

KitchenAid® NSF Certified® Commercial Series 8-Qt Bowl Lift Stand Mixer is a dream come true, I bought it to replace a Breville Scraper Mixer Pro which died doing a very basic task of kneading brioche bread for 30 minutes that it could not handle. The Breville started to smoke, and within a matter of months the motor's gears had stripped rendering the mixer unusable. To replace the Breville I bought the Commercial Series because at this price, there was no better option available. It truly is the best of it's class under $1000! No matter what I need to do, the mixer can handle it - and usually faster. I used to take me a long time to get a meringue started with my old Breville, with the Kitchenaid mixer I can whip air into egg whites 2-3x faster. The soft start feature is something that I did not expect to appreciate as much as I do, rarely do I encounter a messy countertop due to splashes. My only complaint is that I cannot mix micro-batches without some manual help, but this is a slight inconvenience... I expect this to be my mixer for the next decade plus without concern for fear and tear. It is built like a tank!

An improvent on the best Review by

After 15 years in restaurant pastry kitchens, kitchen aid mixers have always been the standard for me and my cooks. This 8qt mixer has been the perfect in between from our service mixers and other 20qt table top mixers. Dependable motor and new beaters and whisks stand up to all our production needs. I'm excited to use this for years to come. I purchased one for our r & d kitchen for all our test recipes at the shop and one for home as well.

Excellent. Just what I expected. Review by

I was introduced to this mixer in culinary school. We used the Kitchen Aid for everything but the largest batches of bread, where we used a much larger commercial mixer. Since I was familiar with it, I bought it for home. So far (2 months) it's been wonderful. it mixes, kneads, and whips very well. It never gets warm and is quite stable on a quartz countertop. I also bought the food processor attachment and intend to buy some others. As an added bonus, it looks great in my new kitchen (Dark Pewter). My wife isn't a big fan of the orange cord. Since I just took the food safety certification, I can appreciate the NSF certification and the all stainless steel bowl, whip, paddle, and dough hook are very easy to clean.

I purchased this kitchenaid because it had a bigger bowl. I expected to be able to mix up bigger batches of bread dough. Doesn't happen. The dough still climbs up the dough hook and gets onto the top where it hooks into the machine. I still love not having to mix them by hand.

    Wonderful Kitchen Tool Review by

We purchased our new toy to make 70 dozen cookies for a wedding reception. It was awesome! It made the work so much easier. Amazing how this machine works effortlessly while mixing up triple or quadruple batches of dough. The only regret is we waited so many years to make a purchase. Would recommend this tool for anyone planning to or already bakes sweets or makes breads. Sure make everything less physical on the cook. Look forward to having it this summer for farmers market baking.

I purchased this a couple of months ago and I have had nothing but great success with it. However, accessories are VERY limited for it, such as a bowl scraping paddle for the 8 qt. bowl that comes with it, without being forced to purchase a 7 qt. bowl in order to purchase such a paddle.

Great for the Home Cook! Review by

I already have a KitchenAid 6 Quart Mixer but doing the amount of baking I do at home, I either had to do multiple batches of a recipe or double up and deal with dough crawling out the top of a filled bowl. I finally treated myself to this mixer - it was between this and and the 7-Quart. I read all the reviews and decided the 8 Quart was what I needed. I also bought a stand for it because it's a bit heavy for me to carry from the cabined as I do the smaller one. I love it. It handles doubled, tripled and even quadrupled cookie doughs. It makes cheesecake a breeze; in fact I have to be very careful not to overmix. I haven't had to have it over 3 in speed and it is wonderful. Have a little bit of trouble getting the mixing bowl set in it's place; it's very stiff and I have to stop and take my time and the plug cord supplied is a bit flimsy; have to be careful not to bend it carelessly. All in all, I am delighted with my purchase and recommend it wholeheartedly to the home cook. You will love it!

Commercial Mixer ..... love it Review by

I have enjoyed my KitchenAid mixers. In fact I have 4 mixers .... from 4 1/2 quart to my 8 quart commercial mixer. Each mixer is used for different things. My commercial mixer has made my life a lot better making breads and fruitcakes for the holidays. One thing I can tell you ..... thems fighting words if you try to take my mixers away from me. I have also given a mixer to my daughter in law and she agrees it's the best.

Out an arm workout Review by

I bought this for myself as as early christmas gift for regular home use. When we cook and bake, we like to do so in large batches; hence, the 8-QT purchase. We make homemade breakfast bars, which was a daunting chore due to the thickness of the dough, but this mixer has made the mixing part a snap. Once in a while, a very small amount of the grains at the bottom of bowl will not have been incorporated, but a few kneads of the dough fixes that. I love the ice cream maker attachment. I originally bought the one that said it was for all KitchenAid types except for two models, which require a different ice cream attachment, but it did not fit my 8-QT mixer. KitchenAid mailed me the correct drive assembly, and now it works great. Changing the speeds is easy with the slide control, and the mixer is not too big for my counter. Unless you're pouring from a measuring cup (or similar), it is a little difficult to pour in ingredients while mixing. It appears a pouring shield is available for an additional cost, but I plan to wait and see if I really need it. I have wanted a KitchenAid stand mixer for years, and I am happy I finally bought one.

I received my new mixer just in time for Christmas baking! I made 5batches of chocolate chip cookies at one time and the beater never bogged down. I love how much quieter this new mixer is from my old kitchen aid 6 quart mixer. It takes up the same amount of counter space as my old kitchen aid mixer but has a very large mixing bowl. I absolutely love it!

    AWESOME! Review by

I received this as a gift from my husband as I only had a small kitchenaide and I had gone to culinary school for a year before I had to drop due to surgeries. I do a lot of baking and just this morning I made 4 double batches of cinnamon rolls for the town Cafe as everyone loves my cinnamon rolls. I have actually gotten up to 4 X the recipe in the mixer so am extremely impressed. It pretty much goes along the same lines as the mixers we used at the Le Cordon Bleu. Only problem I have encountered is the head is difficult to get adjusted for the ice cream maker.....yep, we definitely use all of it's extras. I gave my small one to my daughter and kept the awesome one. I can do so much more in a smaller amount of time. What used to take me 4-5 hours to make cinnamon rolls now takes me about 3 hours from start to finish. And, that is making about 60 rolls.

8 Qt Commercial Kitchenaid Stand Mixer in Empire Red Review by

My 8 Qt Commercial Kitchenaid Stand Mixer came today, i was expecting it, so i had the ingredients ready for my chocolate oblivion truffle tort, aka flourless chocolate cake. the mixer performed beautifully and whipped for over 20 minutes on high and never even got warm, i'm impressed. i am glad i got the NSF model, for if i want to open up shop, i have the mixer appropriate for doing so. 8 qt bowl allowed me to double batch my recipe and make two cakes, they both came out perfect. wish i could post a picture becuz i took a few. lol. ~ chef kev ~

My 8 Qt Commercial Kitchenaid Stand Mixer came today, i was expecting it, so i had the ingredients ready for my chocolate oblivion truffle tort, aka flourless chocolate cake. being a chef for over 30 years, i know what works and what doesn't, this baby WORKS. after extended use at a high speed, this mixer DID NOT get hot, DID NOT get warm, and if i didn't see it whipping, i wouldn't really have known it was running, it's very quiet. stainless attachments, easy to clean, NSF certified, I'm ready to sell my cakes... they came out delish!

    Pluses and minuses Review by

Pluses: Pluses: - Super large capacity bowl. - All stainless steel, dishwasher safe beaters. - Older attachments fit. - Powerful motor. - Dough hook is a more efficient shape than ones that come with tilt-head model. - Safety guard to prevent accidental start. - Spring-loaded cover for attachment socket. Minuses: - Not as quiet as some other reviewers noted. - More difficult to attach/remove beaters than tilt-head models. - After using a tilt-head K45 for many years, I find remembering to lift bowl requires some getting used to. - Heavy, but not too bad. - Not sure if the gears are metal.

    Outstanding Mixer! Review by

We received this mixer as a gift last month right before our annual cookie making event Thanksgiving weekend. This mixer was outstanding in performance and greatly reduced our time spent in the kitchen. The ability to mix several batches at once is fantastic. The mixer worked liked a dream a mixed items so quickly that our cookies turned out the best ever. I highly recommend this unit to anyone that is speculating about purchasing this model!

The different choices of attachments makes the KitchenAid Mi Review by

Our church cooks and provides free meals to those in need in our community, every month. This mixer has been a wonderful aid in many recipes. We used to use hand mixers .....I can truly say what a time saver for mixing large quantities. If we would win the blender then we would have one at church and members wouldn't have to share theirs from home when one is needed.

Quiet and powerful and fits! Review by

I have used my new awesome red mixer for a couple of months now and am very impressed. It is so much quieter than my 6 qt, 11 year old KA. The drawbackI have is that there isn't much clearance between the top of the bowl as well as the top of the beaters and the machine. This affects the amount of dough (I bake cinnamon rolls and sweet bread as a business) I can knead at one time (I take some out and knead in 2 portions) and makes it a bit more troublesome to add flour. But, I understand that if the machine were taller, I would have a bigger problem of space to keep it and use it. At this point I can still fit it under the cupboards. I choose the inconvenience. It seems plenty powerful and is easy to clean up.

Then you will LOVE this machine! It's so much more then I ever thought it would be...power, features, quality. I love that it is simple but in a good way. I love the handle on the bowl which my 15 year old 4.5qt Kitchenaid didn't have but it still works awesome and I couldn't bring myself to sell or give away upon getting the 8qt one. You don't need a culinary degree to use it. I am a stay at home mom with 4 boys and I just love to cook and bake. I can't tell you how much I love and use this!

Commercial quality, huge capacity, at home! Review by

We have owned a smaller size KitchenAid mixer for many years and have used it for many many kitchen tasks. We upgraded to this model primarily to increase capacity (8 qt vs 5 qt) and to take advantage of the Commercial-grade motor. We've not been disappointed on either front. I appreciate the two features already mentioned (size and strength) and also like the lift-stand feature, which we do not have on the 5-qt model. We also purchased a second bowl, 5-qt size, to make this new mixer useful for various chores. I especially like being able to mix triple and quadruple batches of banana bread and churning out dough for 6 or more loaves of bread. There are two aspects, minor aspects, or the mixer's operation that I'll mention. One is the placement or attachment of the bowl into the stand. Perhaps for others it's intuitive, but it took me several uses before I figured out the best way to snap the bowl into the stand. Perhaps this can be mentioned in the instructions. The second aspect is the fact that the mixing mechanism, when attached to the mixer, is (at least it seems to be) intentionally a wee bit loose where it attaches to the mixer. This is different from my 5-quart mixer, and so was disconcerting at first. I actually don't know if this looseness is intentional. All in all, I'll have a lifetime of use and enjoyment with this big and strong mixer!

A true Power House Review by

I purchased this item to be able to handle the large amounts of bread and cookie doughs I make. My last KitchenAid, I stripped some of the gears inside the motor (bad girl), and just wanted a mixer that could stand up to my cooking demands. I knew that a commercial unit would be the way to go for me and I was right. I will also say that the beater, dough hook, and whip are heavy duty, it makes the residential versions almost feel cheap in comparison. I'm thrilled with my purchase and with such an excellent price, I couldn't refuse !!

Kitchenaid Lift Stand Mixer Review by

I am not sure I like this mixer. It is hard to add items once the bowl is on the stand. No room to add the ingredients, they hit the mixer as I pour or scrape them in. I have not used a stand mixer before so maybe its just getting use to it. Maybe it would be helpful if the stand lifted.

I had a smaller Kitchen Aid mixer for 22 years, never had a problem. I wanted something bigger that would knead bread dough, I purchased the 8 quart. So glad I did. It ss a dream for mixing & kneading. I love how it scrapes the sides of the bowl too. It is a little hard to push down & lock the bowl to the mixer, but other than that, nothing negative. I bought a red mixer, very stylish!

Great addition to my kitchen Review by

I bought this to replace a KitchenAid bowl lift stand mixer, which is still working after 40 years of use. The only reason I bought this new is the larger bowl capacity so that when I make double batch of bread, I do not have to do it two times. This new Mixer handles the double batch with ease, just as I were making a single batch in my old mixer. Love this!

Power and capacity to spare. Review by

So far I have used this machine to make several cakes (three at a time!), mix many pounds of meat mixtures (for sausage) and to prepare large quantities of tuna salad for a pot luck dinner. The eight qt. bowl eliminates the necessity of using my hands to prevent the contents from overtopping. The machine is cool running, quiet and gives the impression that it is unstoppable. I love it. This replaces my beloved five quart machine that I wore out after twenty years of heavy use. I have purchased two six quart bowls (KN2B6PEH) for smaller quantities, easier scrape downs and the convenience of bowl swapping. They fit well and work beautifully as does the eight quart bowl. The slow start feature is something that I had not considered when I purchased the mixer but it has proven to be one of the most useful features. I have not accidentally sprayed myself with dry flour since I started baking with it. Good job, KitchenAid!

I have been using this mixer for 4 months now, making bread several times each week. It is fast, efficient, and so much quieter than the pro series mixers! This mixer makes me want to bake, and I am teaching my husba Review by

Now we can bake more bread than we could mix up in the five quart mixer, and I am teaching my husband to bake bread, which has turned out to be a fun thing for us to do together. We are both very pleased with the machine. It mixes much smoother and easier than the five quart mixer which I replaced because of the larger volume. We always make whole wheat bread, sometimes with a sourdough starter/sponge from the night before and the machine can handle a lot of whole wheat dough without straining. It is very convenient to leave the sponge in overnight and just add the other ingredients in the am. We are using this machine much more than the five quart and made the best mashed potatoes (quite a few) at Thanksgiving in the 8 quart. It is easy to handle, and has improved both our confidence levels, even though I am an experienced bread baker, and my husband is just learning.

My family has used one as long as they have been in business Review by

My Mom had a kitchen aid mixer as a wedding present. I inherited it when I got married then purchased one myself as I do a lot of baking of bread. I don't remember what Mom's was but mine is the Pro and I love it. I have been married 44 years and this mixer was purchased about 20 years ago. It's still running strong with lots of use. I would have to say a tilt head might not be the best addition to this mixer. It may make it jump when kneading bread dough's or other heavy dough's. I think the way it's made for Professional use it very good. You can't beat a Kitchen aid Pro for power and ever lasting usefulness. I would never trade mine. They have added some beautiful colors and if I do ever get a new one it will be hard to decide which color I would purchase. I can't say enough about kitchen aid products. My whole kitchen is kitchen aid except the refrigerator and as soon as that's goes it will be replaced with a kitchen aid - that's for sure.

    Good but....... Review by

I have a 6 qt KA and just got the 8 qt. The only difference is the bowl is deeper, same circumference (but unfortunately my 6 qt lid won't fit as the 8 qt has a rolled edge). I didn't notice anything better when making 2 loaves of whole wheat bread. Same mixing ability. A BIG problem is that there is no splash guard available for this and flour splashes all over. The 6 qt splash guard fits the bowl but because the bowl is so deep, there isn't enough clearance to raise the bowl with the splash guard attached. AND the bowl is so deep and goes up so high next to the mixer that you can't add ingredients without stopping and lowering the bowl. KA you need to make a splash guard/way to add ingredients while mixing!!!! It's a real defect! One other minor problem and I don't know if my mixer is defective or it's by design, but the bowl is VERY hard to click into place. I need to practically jump up and down to get it into place. Also, I understand the 7 qt is identical in every way, $100 cheaper. You can get the 7 qt, buy an extra 8 qt bowl, and have two bowls for the same price as buying the 8 qt. Stupid of my not to know this before i bought my 8 qt

Love Kitchen Aid Mixers Review by

I have used Kitchen Aid mixers all of my life. They are an awesome product. I really like this mixer for it's bowl size and it seems to be much quieter than the mixer that I had previously (also Kitchen Aid). However, the only draw back of the nice large bowl, it is sometimes awkward to put the whisk or paddle in. You have to put the bowl on first and lock it in, and then attach your paddle. Not as easy as the earlier versions of this mixer. Other than that, I love this mixer and all the work that it does!

We purchased 2 of these stand mixers. After much research on stand mixers, we decided to go with this brand and model vs Hobart. One of the mixers is currently running great. The other arrived in what seemed to be ok condition, however made a clanking noise which we thought was the beater hitting the bowl. Did the adjustment, but still heard the noise. Soon after the mixer started to get louder, and so we tested it without the attachments and found that there was definitely something wrong. We are in the process of sending it back. We are really hard on our equipment and this is a real acid test. All in all we are satisfied with the product. At least for now.
